📋 Description

• Design the user experience for autonomous AI agents in cybersecurity — a novel problem space with no existing design patterns, where humans and AI collaborate to investigate vulnerabilities and cut through security noise.
• Own the end-to-end product surface: lead features from problem framing and customer research through prototyping, validation, and shipping — partnering directly with product managers and engineers, including backend teams.
• Invent AI-agent interaction patterns: define how trust is built, decisions are communicated, and humans steer AI agents without slowing down autonomous workflows — creating foundational UX models for the industry.
• Build and scale a component-based design system that becomes the standard for all product surfaces, establishing tokens, components, and design principles for AI-human collaboration.
• Use AI tools (Figma AI, Cursor, v0, Midjourney, ChatGPT/Claude) daily to accelerate ideation and prototyping, while ensuring every shipped design holds up on its own merits — AI enhances, never replaces, foundational craft.
• Drive product direction by shaping roadmap priorities, challenging requirements, and influencing leadership with research-backed reasoning — operating as a product-led designer, not just a visual executor.
• Conduct direct customer research with security teams: synthesize insights from user interviews and translate them into actionable product decisions, using AI-assisted analysis to move from insight to prototype rapidly.
• Set the quality bar for product design at Maze: define what "good" looks like across visual hierarchy, information architecture, consistency, and customer impact — establishing the foundation for a future design team.
• Collaborate deeply with engineering teams: work in design tokens, understand backend systems, pair on implementation, and build consensus rather than ship designs around resistance.
• Ship complex, data-dense B2B SaaS interfaces for technical audiences — designing dashboards, investigation tools, and security platforms where decision support and information density directly impact outcomes.
• Pioneer AI-assisted design workflows: develop and document methodologies for using AI in design that the broader team will adopt, making your daily workflow a contribution to the company’s design DNA.
• Translate abstract security workflows into intuitive, actionable interfaces — reducing cognitive load for security professionals while maintaining precision and control over AI-driven processes.
• Operate with autonomy in an early-stage startup environment: define your own process, set priorities, and lead without a pre-existing design function or manager — shaping the culture and standards of the design team as it scales.

🎯 Requirements

• 4-7 years of professional product design experience with shipped B2B SaaS products
• Demonstrated ability to design complex, data-dense UIs for technical audiences (e.g., security platforms, developer tools, dashboards)
• Proven experience building and scaling a production design system with components, tokens, and patterns
• Deep collaboration experience with engineering teams, including backend, with a track record of shipping work together
• Strong visual craft: portfolio that demonstrates deliberate visual hierarchy, information architecture, and color theory under scrutiny
• Product-strategic mindset: history of driving product direction, framing problems, and influencing roadmap decisions beyond execution
