  • • Kemper Corporation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Development & Implementation Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our insurance products. This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between strategic product vision and seamless operational execution, ensuring our offerings not only meet but exceed the evolving needs of our customers.
  • • As the Product Development & Implementation Manager, you will be instrumental in both the initial design of new insurance products and the ongoing management of our existing portfolio. Your responsibilities will span the entire product lifecycle, from conceptualization and development through to successful launch and post-implementation optimization.
  • • A core function of this role involves translating complex actuarial pricing intentions and competitive market insights into clear, actionable product specifications. You will be the architect of product features, rules, and benefits, ensuring they are meticulously defined and ready for implementation.
  • • You will lead and mentor a team of talented Product Analysts, fostering their growth and providing them with the technical guidance and performance management necessary to excel. Your leadership will be crucial in developing their skills and ensuring the team's collective success in driving product initiatives.
  • • This position demands a strategic approach to product availability and portfolio positioning. You will continuously evaluate competitive research, analyze market data, and monitor product performance to identify opportunities for enhancement and to make informed recommendations for portfolio adjustments.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will be orchestrating cross-functional implementation efforts. This involves ensuring that all elements of a product – including pricing, policy forms, underwriting rules, and system configurations – are perfectly aligned, compliant with all regulations, and operationally sound before launch.
  • • You will be responsible for the meticulous creation of detailed product specifications, working hand-in-hand with pricing actuaries. This collaborative process ensures that actuarial assumptions and pricing intent are accurately reflected in the product's design, features, and operational rules.
  • • Owning product availability management means you will be at the forefront of understanding market dynamics. By analyzing competitive landscapes, consumer trends, and internal performance metrics, you will proactively recommend strategies to optimize our product offerings and maintain a competitive edge.
  • • Your leadership will extend to guiding the development of Product Analysts. You will provide clear direction, constructive coaching, effective performance management, and essential technical expertise, cultivating a high-performing and motivated team.
  • • A critical responsibility is coordinating system configurations and updates across our pricing, underwriting, and policy administration platforms. This ensures that all technological components accurately support the designed product features and logic.
  • • You will be the guardian of product integrity, ensuring that all product forms, rates, underwriting guidelines, and system logic precisely align with the approved product specifications and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • • Partnering closely with underwriting, IT, compliance, and operations teams is paramount. You will collaborate to plan, execute, and rigorously validate all product changes, ensuring a smooth and error-free transition.
  • • You will oversee comprehensive testing, validation, and reconciliation activities. This critical step confirms that system behavior accurately reflects the product design, both before and after implementation, minimizing post-launch issues.
  • • Proactively identifying and resolving implementation issues is key. You will manage risks and escalate delays as necessary, employing your problem-solving skills to ensure the timely and successful delivery of product initiatives.
  • • Supporting regulatory filings and ensuring implementation readiness involves a deep understanding of compliance. You will verify that system outputs precisely match filed and approved product materials, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and adherence.
  • • Maintaining comprehensive product documentation, implementation artifacts, and audit-ready records is essential for good governance and future reference. You will ensure all product-related documentation is up-to-date and meticulously organized.
  • • You will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our product governance frameworks, design processes, and implementation execution methodologies, driving efficiency and best practices across the organization.
  • • This role offers a significant opportunity to impact Kemper's market position and customer satisfaction by ensuring our product development and implementation processes are best-in-class.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 7+ years of progressive experience in insurance product development, pricing, product implementation, actuarial support, or related functions.
  • • Demonstrated experience in translating product and pricing requirements into business and system requirements across pricing, underwriting, and policy administration platforms.
  • • Proven experience coordinating complex, cross-functional initiatives involving actuarial, underwriting, IT, and operations.

  • • Robust 401(k) matching program, Health Spending Accounts, and various retirement savings plans to support your future financial security.
  • • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional development through a Tuition Assistance Program, paid certifications, and continuing education programs.
  • • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and a business casual dress code to promote work-life balance.
