📋 Description

• As the Product Intake Team Lead for SpryCIS, you will be instrumental in shaping the future direction of our flagship product by acting as the primary gateway for all incoming product-related initiatives. This pivotal role serves as the crucial link between the dynamic demands of the market and the meticulous execution of our product development lifecycle. You will be responsible for translating diverse inputs – including client needs, emerging market trends, competitive intelligence, and strategic business opportunities – into clearly defined, actionable product work that propels SpryCIS forward.
• This is a unique player-coach position where you will lead a dedicated team of two individuals, overseeing the critical discovery phase of our product development process. Your leadership will ensure that we are not just building features, but solving the right problems for our utility clients. You will possess the authority and responsibility to identify which challenges are most impactful and worthy of our development resources, meticulously refining ambiguous requirements into clear, concise specifications.
• A core aspect of your role will be to guarantee that every Epic (a large body of work that can be broken down into smaller stories) entering the development pipeline is underpinned by demonstrable business value. This proactive approach ensures that our development teams are always focused on delivering maximum impact and ROI for SpryPoint and our clients.
• You will cultivate a keen eye for spotting nascent market trends and identifying untapped opportunities that can significantly influence and shape the strategic SpryCIS roadmap. Your insights will be vital in maintaining our competitive edge and ensuring SpryCIS remains the leading cloud-native platform for modern utilities.
• What truly sets this role apart is its strategic position at the confluence of market intelligence, rigorous technical validation, and forward-thinking product strategy. Unlike many product management roles that lean heavily towards either strategic planning or tactical execution, this position demands proficiency in both domains. You will engage in deep discovery sessions with our utility clients, understanding their operational nuances and future aspirations, and in the same day, you might be orchestrating the creation of Statements of Work (SOWs) by collaborating with Product Owners and subject matter experts across various technical disciplines.
• Your daily activities will be a dynamic blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. A significant portion of your time, approximately 50%, will be dedicated to product discovery and the detailed development of Epics. This involves in-depth research, client consultations, and the articulation of product requirements.
• Another 20% of your time will be allocated to cross-product coordination, ensuring seamless integration and alignment across our suite of SpryPoint solutions, and conducting thorough technical validation to confirm feasibility and identify potential challenges early in the process.
• People leadership is a key component of this role, with 20% of your focus dedicated to mentoring, guiding, and developing your two-person intake team. You will foster a collaborative and high-performing environment, empowering your team to excel in their discovery responsibilities.
• The remaining 10% of your time will be invested in continuous market intelligence gathering and contributing to the overarching product strategy. This includes staying abreast of industry shifts, competitor activities, and technological advancements to inform our long-term product vision.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience in product management or a related field, with a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex business needs and market signals into well-defined product requirements and Epics.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead discovery sessions and collaborate effectively with clients, technical teams, and leadership.
• Experience leading and mentoring a small team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
• Analytical mindset with a knack for identifying market trends, competitive insights, and strategic opportunities.
• Familiarity with the utility industry or experience in a regulated sector is a strong asset.
