- • The Product Steward ensures that VWR International’s products are developed, manufactured, marketed, and distributed in full compliance with global chemical, environmental, health, and safety regulations, serving as a critical safeguard for regulatory adherence and business continuity across the product lifecycle.
- • This role directly supports R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations, and Commercial teams by interpreting complex regulations, managing compliance data in SAP Product Compliance, and enabling safe, lawful global product distribution.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing and interpreting global chemical regulations such as REACH, CLP/GHS, TSCA, WHMIS, RoHS, Prop 65, and food contact rules to determine applicability and compliance obligations for products.
- • The Product Steward maintains and updates regulatory content, safety data, and classifications within SAP Product Compliance modules, ensuring accurate substance- and material-level regulatory checks and automated workflows.
- • They oversee the generation, review, and updating of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, and compliance declarations, aligning documentation with current GHS frameworks and regional requirements.
- • Collaboration with IT and master data teams is ongoing to optimize SAP Product Compliance system use, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements that improve data quality and process efficiency.
- • The role involves providing regulatory guidance to cross-functional teams during new product introductions, formulation changes, and market expansions, acting as a subject-matter expert on chemical compliance.
- • The Product Steward tracks evolving global regulations, assesses their impact on product portfolios, and helps maintain internal processes, work instructions, and best practices for product stewardship.
- • They support audits, regulatory inspections, and customer inquiries related to product compliance, ensuring readiness and transparency in all regulatory engagements.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Toxicology, or a related scientific discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- • 3–7+ years of experience in product stewardship, regulatory affairs, or chemical compliance, ideally within manufacturing, life sciences, distribution, or specialty chemicals.
- • Hands-on experience with SAP Product Compliance is required (including modules such as PC—Basic, Dangerous Goods, Safety Data Sheet Management, Marketability, Environmental Compliance, or Global Label Management).
- • Strong understanding of global chemical regulations and product compliance frameworks (e.g., REACH, GHS/CLP, TSCA, K-REACH, food contact, etc.).
- • Proficiency with SAP systems (particularly SAP Product Compliance) and Excel; experience with additional regulatory tools/databases is a plus.
- • Demonstrated skills in innovation, customer centricity, accountability, respect, and excellence as defined by Avantor’s behavioral competencies.
