Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Quality Assurance Lead at Paragon Application Systems, Inc., you will serve as the functional leader of embedded QA engineers across product teams, defining how quality is owned and validated to enable rapid, safe releases without manual bottlenecks. This role is critical to transforming Paragon’s quality model from a reactive, manual-heavy process into a scalable, automated system that supports deployment frequency of dozens of times per day with high confidence.
  • • You will own the cross-team quality strategy, defining and enforcing a clear testing strategy across unit, integration, end-to-end, and live-environment testing, while partnering with engineering to reduce reliance on manual regression and increase high-value automated coverage in the monorepo and QA-owned environments.
  • • You will establish release gates, smoke suites, and risk-based regression standards, evolve quality systems for high-frequency deployment, and work with embedded QA engineers to improve consistency in test planning, case design, bug reporting, and automation priorities.
  • • You will coach teams on quality ownership for new features so automation is built in rather than added later, drive improvements in test reliability and flake reduction, and partner with platform and SRE on environment stability, deploy verification, and post-release checks.
  • • You will improve defect triage processes to strengthen the right layer of coverage, shape a quality operating model focused on high-leverage work, and act as a player-coach by reviewing test plans, contributing to automation strategy, and directly engaging in critical quality problems when needed.
  • • You will help Paragon build toward a world where deployments are frequent, reliable, and confident—where QA is not a bottleneck but a strategic enabler of velocity and quality, ensuring engineers have clear expectations and QA engineers spend more time on automation, exploratory testing, and high-value validation.
  • • You will join a growing SaaS/infrastructure-focused organization that values systems thinking, release safety, and cross-functional influence, operating in a hands-on, ambiguous environment where you help define the quality function as you scale it.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Significant experience leading quality strategy for complex SaaS or infrastructure-style products
  • • Strong experience across manual testing, test automation, regression strategy, release validation, and risk-based testing
  • • Experience building or improving automated test coverage in collaboration with engineering teams
  • • Deep understanding of the tradeoffs between unit, integration, API, end-to-end, and post-deploy testing
  • • Experience working in an embedded QA or cross-functional product team model
  • • Strong judgment around where human testing adds value and where it should be replaced by automation
  • • Experience improving release processes and reducing QA bottlenecks in a growing engineering organization
  • • Experience working in or helping build an environment with very high deployment frequency (dozens of times per day)
  • • Strong instincts around release safety, test gating, change risk, and maintaining main/staging health at increased deployment frequency
  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • • Ability to influence engineers, managers, and cross-functional partners without relying on org hierarchy
  • • Comfort operating in a hands-on, ambiguous environment where you are helping define the function as you go

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive base salary + equity, depending on experience and location
  • • A brand new laptop and any additional equipment needed to do your best work
  • • Top-of-the-line health, dental, and vision insurance
  • • Paid, gender-neutral parental leave (including adoption and foster placement)
  • • Flexible working hours focused on outcomes, not time online
  • • Unlimited PTO with a minimum encouraged amount per year
  • • Annual team retreats
  • • Interview accommodations available upon request
