  • • As the Retail Marketing Manager at Simply Protein for Pets (SPFP), you will be the driving force behind our in-store presence and retail channel success. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), this pivotal role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of trade marketing strategies, the development and implementation of impactful in-store merchandising programs, and the creation of essential sales enablement collateral across all of SPFP's key retail channels. Your primary objective will be to ensure our brands not only capture attention but also communicate with exceptional clarity, unwavering discipline, and a distinct competitive edge during crucial line reviews, promotional periods, and in-store activations.
  • • You will take ownership of managing comprehensive trade calendars, meticulously planning and executing display strategies, optimizing Point-of-Purchase Displays (PDQs), developing compelling retail promotional plans, and crafting persuasive sell-in materials that are designed to support category growth and significantly strengthen SPFP's valuable partnerships with our key retail accounts. This includes a deep dive into understanding retailer needs and aligning our strategies to meet and exceed them.
  • • Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work hand-in-hand with our Sales, Marketing, Operations, Creative, and Finance teams to ensure seamless coordination of retail execution. This integrated approach will guarantee that inventory levels, pricing and pack strategies, and our brand storytelling are perfectly aligned with commercial objectives and desired outcomes. You will be the crucial link that translates high-level brand strategy into tangible, effective programs that demonstrably drive product velocity, enhance profit margins, and foster enduring retailer satisfaction.

  • • Key Responsibilities include:
  • • Building and managing annual trade calendars for major accounts such as Costco, Walmart, Tractor Supply, and other significant retail partners, ensuring strategic alignment and timely execution.
  • • Coordinating a wide range of promotional mechanics, including but not limited to, Multi-Vendor Margins (MVMs), Temporary Price Reductions (TPRs), Everyday Low Price (EDLP) strategies versus promotional tactics, and developing account-specific allowances to maximize impact.
  • • Partnering closely with the Finance department to manage promotional accruals accurately, conduct thorough Return on Investment (ROI) analyses, and perform comprehensive post-promotion evaluations to inform future strategies.
  • • Maintaining absolute consistency in SKU management, pricing structures, and pack architecture across all retail partners, ensuring a unified brand presentation.
  • • Leading the creation of essential retailer presentations, sell sheets, product detail page (PDP) copy, and insightful competitive category analyses to support sales efforts.
  • • Preparing meticulously for line reviews, new item pitches, and SKU resets by developing compelling, account-specific storytelling that resonates with retailer objectives.
  • • Maintaining a centralized, easily accessible library of all sales and marketing collateral for both internal Sales teams and external brokers, ensuring everyone has the latest information.
  • • Coordinating the development and deployment of in-store displays, including PDQs, trays, and Master Display Modules (MDMs), to maximize on-shelf visibility and shopper engagement.
  • • Partnering with the Creative team to develop impactful Point-of-Sale (POS) materials, signage, shopper messaging, and claim substantiation that aligns with brand guidelines and retail requirements.
  • • Aligning with the Operations team on critical aspects such as product quantities, logistics, inventory allocations, and project timelines to ensure smooth execution.
  • • Collaborating with the Ecommerce team to harmonize retail and digital shelf execution, creating a consistent brand experience across all touchpoints.
  • • Supporting new SKU launches with tailored, retail-specific Go-To-Market (GTM) plans that drive initial adoption and long-term success.
  • • Actively tracking retailer expectations, gathering feedback, and monitoring satisfaction signals to continuously improve our retail partnerships and performance.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3-5 years of experience in Trade Marketing, Shopper Marketing, or Retail Marketing, with a strong preference for experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
  • • Proven experience supporting large, key retail accounts such as Costco, Walmart, and Tractor Supply. Experience with accounts like BJ's Wholesale Club is a significant plus.
  • • Demonstrated familiarity with trade spend mechanics, retail promotional workflows, and the financial implications of trade investments.
  • • Comfort and proficiency in analyzing category insights, pricing strategies, and performance data to derive actionable recommendations.
  • • A strong track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Creative departments.
  • • Experience within the pet category or the premium natural food CPG sector is highly desirable.
  • • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with professional polish and presentation abilities.
  • • Rigorous attention to detail and a disciplined approach to managing timelines and project deliverables.
  • • Strong analytical instincts, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from data, even when it may be imperfect.
  • • A proactive bias for action and a proven ability for operational problem-solving.
  • • A genuine passion for pets, wellness, and a commitment to improving pet health outcomes through superior nutrition.
