📋 Description

• Own the end-to-end revenue accounting function for Firstup in compliance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of revenue across all customer contracts and arrangements.
• Conduct detailed research and analysis on complex revenue arrangements, including multi-element contracts, subscription models, and performance obligations, to determine appropriate revenue recognition timing and allocation.
• Maintain, update, and document revenue accounting policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with U.S. GAAP and evolving accounting standards.
• Collaborate closely with the financial reporting and general ledger accounting teams to support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, including revenue-related disclosures.
• Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Legal teams to review contract terms and identify revenue recognition implications prior to contract execution.
• Prepare and analyze revenue schedules, deferred revenue balances, and contract asset/liability reconciliations to ensure accuracy and alignment with accounting standards.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, explanations, and evidence for revenue recognition judgments and estimates.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of revenue accounting workflows.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory guidance related to revenue recognition (e.g., ASC 606) and assess impact on company practices.
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting on revenue trends, customer billing patterns, and contract performance to finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate recording of revenue in the general ledger and maintain proper segregation of duties within the revenue accounting function.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for revenue accounting matters across departments, acting as a subject matter expert on revenue recognition principles.
• Assist in the preparation of revenue-related components of internal controls documentation and testing as part of SOX compliance efforts.
• Work remotely as a fully distributed team member, coordinating across time zones with finance, legal, sales, and operations teams to deliver accurate and timely accounting outcomes.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in revenue recognition accounting under U.S. GAAP
• Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and experience applying it to SaaS or technology-based revenue models
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and financial reporting tools
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex contractual terms and translate them into accounting conclusions
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple deadlines
