đź“‹ Description
- • As an RMA Technical Specialist at Vultr, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of high-performance cloud infrastructure by managing the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process for emerging technologies, directly impacting service uptime and customer satisfaction for enterprise and AI clients across 185 countries.
- • You will serve as a technical bridge between Vultr’s engineering teams and hardware vendors, diagnosing and validating GPU/CPU faults, managing technical data exchange, and certifying repaired systems before re-deployment—making your expertise essential to maintaining the integrity of Vultr’s global cloud infrastructure.
- • The RMA Technical Specialist role sits within Vultr’s fast-growing, innovative cloud operations team, where you’ll collaborate with system administrators, data center engineers, and vendor partners to continuously improve hardware reliability processes in a high-scale, globally distributed environment.
- • Day to day, you will: Perform advanced GPU and CPU troubleshooting and fault validation using system administrator-level diagnostic tools to isolate hardware failures in cloud servers; Interact directly with NVIDIA, AMD, and other hardware vendors to initiate RMAs, exchange logs and technical data, and track resolution progress; Schedule and coordinate on-site support for hardware replacement at Vultr’s 32 global data center locations; Validate software and firmware versions on returned and repaired systems to ensure compatibility and compliance with Vultr’s infrastructure standards; Certify that repaired systems meet full operational benchmarks before re-insertion into production service; Create and manage detailed trouble reports in vendor portals (external systems) to ensure timely parts replacement and root cause analysis; Maintain and update internal documentation in Confluence to reflect evolving hardware behaviors, failure patterns, and resolution procedures; Use JIRA to track RMA tickets, prioritize urgent cases, and report on MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and first-time fix rates; Proactively identify recurring failure trends and recommend process improvements or design feedback to vendors and internal engineering teams; Support microcloud and edge deployments by adapting RMA workflows to non-traditional form factors and distributed architectures.
- • Vultr is the world’s largest privately-held cloud infrastructure company, trusted by hundreds of thousands of customers for its scalable Cloud Compute, Cloud GPU, Bare Metal, and Cloud Storage solutions; backed by a $3.5B valuation and founded on a decade of self-funded innovation, the company offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of cloud infrastructure at scale.
- • The team operates with a high degree of autonomy and technical ownership, fostering a culture where specialists are empowered to drive improvements, document emerging technologies, and influence both vendor partnerships and internal architecture decisions.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in enterprise-grade GPU and CPU hardware diagnostics, gain rare exposure to cutting-edge AI infrastructure components, and become a recognized authority on hardware reliability in hyperscale cloud environments—positioning you for advancement into senior technical operations, hardware engineering, or cloud infrastructure architecture roles.
- • You will develop rare cross-functional skills in vendor management, technical documentation, and incident coordination—blending hands-on troubleshooting with process engineering and cross-team communication in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience managing RMA processes for enterprise hardware, including GPU and CPU components, in data center or cloud infrastructure environments
- • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, including firmware, driver, and hardware fault isolation in Linux-based systems
- • Experience with microcloud architectures and data center operations, including hardware lifecycle management, environmental monitoring, and failure analysis
- • Proficiency with JIRA for ticket tracking and Confluence for technical documentation creation and maintenance
- • Demonstrated ability to interface with external vendor portals to submit trouble reports, exchange logs, and coordinate hardware replacements
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary range of $75,000–$90,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and location
- • Fully remote work arrangement within the United States, offering flexibility and work-life balance
- • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI and cloud infrastructure technologies at a rapidly growing, industry-leading company
- • Exposure to global vendor ecosystems and enterprise hardware systems, building rare and valuable technical expertise
- • Inclusive, privacy-focused culture committed to equal opportunity and responsible data handling under U.S. and international privacy laws
