- • As a Routing Specialist at Ryder System, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our logistics operations by performing daily route planning and optimization for dedicated customers across the Ryder network. This position is integral to our Continuous Improvement culture, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness in our transportation solutions.
- • You will be responsible for processing incoming orders from customers, leveraging automated systems and sophisticated routing software to generate the most efficient route plans for our operational teams. Your work will directly impact the timely and successful execution of deliveries and pickups.
- • This role requires close collaboration with various operating teams located across the country, demanding strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure seamless coordination and problem-solving.
- • You will also work closely with counterparts within the engineering team, contributing to the development and refinement of routing strategies and processes.
- • The Routing Specialist reports to a Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Sr. CI Manager, indicating a direct alignment with operational management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- • Your primary daily responsibility will involve performing route planning for our operating teams, utilizing automated processes and specialized transportation modeling software to create optimal, executable, multi-stop dedicated routes.
- • You will diligently monitor the electronic processing of order files received from customers, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and oversee the processing of completed routes back to the DTS operating teams.
- • The core of your function is to produce optimal, executable, multi-stop dedicated routes based on pre-determined parameters and customer orders, all within defined timeframes.
- • This role involves managing route planning for multiple sessions each day, potentially covering multiple locations for one or more customers, with each planning session typically requiring one to two hours of focused effort.
- • Beyond daily route planning, you will contribute to broader operational improvements by performing other duties as assigned, supporting the overall goals of the Continuous Improvement team and Ryder's commitment to operational excellence.
- • You will develop and maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders, including operations managers, engineers, and other team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- • The ability to work independently, demonstrating a self-driven approach to excel in a fast-paced environment, is crucial for success in this role.
- • You will be expected to manage Continuous Improvement projects from their inception through to sustained results, contributing to measurable enhancements in efficiency and performance.
