- • Own and exceed a multi-million-dollar revenue goal across AFAR’s entire ecosystem—Afar.com, Afar Magazine, Afar Audio, Social, Events, Advisor, Creates, and Video—by building and executing a territory strategy that turns prospects into long-term, high-value partners.
- • Act as the primary commercial quarterback for your assigned agencies and categories, running the full sales cycle from first cold outreach to signed IO, campaign optimization, renewal, and upsell, while maintaining a real-time pipeline that is 3× quota at all times.
- • Conduct deep discovery with every prospect to uncover KPIs, audience targets, creative challenges, and budget cycles; translate those insights into data-driven, multi-platform proposals that the internal marketing team can turn into award-winning programs.
- • Partner daily with editorial, production, finance, events, and product teams to scope custom content, immersive activations, podcasts, and branded video series that deliver measurable ROI and reinforce AFAR’s reputation as the most trusted voice in experiential travel.
- • Present the AFAR brand story with passion and precision to C-suite marketers, media directors, and planning teams at holding-company agencies, tailoring each deck to show how AFAR’s affluent, adventure-seeking audience can accelerate the client’s business objectives.
- • Cultivate senior-level relationships across the travel, luxury, finance, and lifestyle verticals, becoming the client’s first call for innovative media ideas and ensuring AFAR is written into annual media plans before RFP season begins.
- • Monitor campaign delivery in real time, troubleshoot under-performance, and proactively recommend optimizations that protect revenue and deepen client trust; share post-campaign wrap-ups that quantify brand lift, engagement, and attributable sales.
- • Represent AFAR at key industry conferences (e.g., Cannes, ANA Masters, Travel Weekly), hosting client dinners, panel discussions, and private briefings that position you—and the brand—as thought leaders shaping the future of travel media.
- • Forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue with 95 % accuracy; surface risks and upside opportunities to leadership early so cross-functional teams can adjust inventory, pricing, and staffing accordingly.
- • Travel up to 25 % for client pitches, site visits, and experiential shoots, often on short notice, while maintaining seamless remote collaboration with a distributed team that spans New York, San Francisco, and London.
- • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by sharing competitive intel, sales best practices, and emerging ad-tech trends in weekly team huddles and quarterly off-sites.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years of proven success in integrated media sales (digital, print, social, events, and custom content) with a documented record of meeting or exceeding six-figure quotas.
- • Demonstrated ability to sell to travel, luxury, or lifestyle brands and their agency partners, navigating complex stakeholder maps and closing multi-platform deals.
- • Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and closing skills, supported by fluency in PowerPoint, Excel, Salesforce, and the latest ad-serving and attribution platforms.
- • Self-starter mentality with superior time-management, organization, and follow-through; thrives in a fast-paced, fully remote, start-up environment.
- • Genuine passion for travel and willingness to travel up to 25 % for client meetings, trade shows, and content shoots.
