- • Are you a seasoned sales leader with a passion for driving growth in the dynamic digital health sector? Matchnode, a performance-driven digital marketing agency dedicated to empowering healthcare organizations, is seeking its first non-founder Sales Director to spearhead new business development and transition us from founder-led sales to a scalable, professionalized sales motion.
- • This is a unique opportunity to own the end-to-end sales cycle for net-new logos, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future growth trajectory of a mission-driven agency. You will be instrumental in helping innovative healthcare companies acquire patients, scale responsibly, and build modern marketing engines that deliver tangible results.
- • As our first dedicated Sales Director, you will be responsible for identifying and engaging with prospective clients, ranging from virtual-first specialty care companies and cutting-edge healthcare startups to established, forward-thinking health systems. Your primary focus will be on building a robust pipeline and closing new business, ensuring Matchnode continues to support companies that are making a meaningful impact on U.S. population health.
- • The role demands a consultative, high-trust approach to selling professional services. This is not a transactional or high-volume outbound sales position. Instead, you will leverage your expertise to understand complex client needs, craft tailored solutions, and build lasting relationships.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass the entire sales funnel: inbound lead qualification, in-depth discovery and needs assessment, compelling proposal development, and ultimately, closing deals. You will initially co-lead discovery calls with our founders, gradually transitioning to operate independently as you gain full ownership of the sales process.
- • To ensure comprehensive client solutions, you will strategically pull in subject-matter experts from our internal teams – including strategy, media, creative, and technical departments – to support discovery and closing efforts. This collaborative approach ensures we present the most effective and integrated solutions to our clients.
- • A key aspect of this role involves managing an active sales pipeline, consistently closing new business, and ensuring clean handoffs to our dedicated account management team. This includes clearly defining scope and expectations post-sale to guarantee client success and satisfaction.
- • When pipeline requires it, you will proactively engage in targeted prospecting to maintain a healthy flow of opportunities. You will also play a crucial role in refining Matchnode's sales process and positioning, contributing to the development of a repeatable and documented sales motion.
- • Success in this role at the 12-month mark means you are running the sales motion almost entirely independently, with founder involvement becoming optional and strategic. You will be consistently closing approximately 4 new deals per quarter, maintaining or exceeding current standards for deal quality, scope discipline, and close rates. Crucially, the sales process will be repeatable, documented, and no longer founder-dependent, positioning you to potentially build and lead a sales function as the company scales.
- • This position is ideal for individuals who possess a proven track record in B2B sales, particularly in selling professional services or agency work. You should be comfortable navigating longer sales cycles and closing six-figure annual engagements. A deep understanding of digital marketing – including paid media (Meta, Google), creative strategy and testing, and analytics/performance measurement – is essential for credible client engagement.
- • While you don't need to be the technical expert, you must possess the acumen to ask the right questions and guide discussions effectively. A genuine interest in healthcare and digital health, coupled with a commitment to mission, outcomes, and ethical business practices, is paramount. Proficiency with modern sales tools, including AI for enhanced prospecting and research, will be a significant advantage.
- • This role is not suited for those early in their sales careers, individuals who prefer high-volume outbound or script-driven sales, or those only comfortable selling transactional or productized offerings. It's also not for those who wish to manage accounts long-term or are uninterested in learning the nuances of the healthcare industry. We are looking for someone ready to build and own, not inherit a fully established sales machine.
