Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As an Inside Account Executive on Whatnot’s Categories and Expansion team, you will play a pivotal role in scaling the platform’s supply by identifying, onboarding, and nurturing high-potential livestream sellers across diverse categories such as trading cards, fashion, electronics, and live plants. Your work directly fuels Whatnot’s mission to enable anyone to turn their passion into a business, driving real economic opportunity for small businesses and creators while expanding the marketplace’s depth and vibrancy in North America and Europe.
  • • You will manage the full sales cycle for your own portfolio of seller prospects, from initial outreach and discovery calls to pitching, negotiation, onboarding, and post-launch coaching. This includes leveraging video and phone communication to build trust, overcome objections, and clearly articulate How Whatnot helps sellers scale their businesses through live commerce, data-driven insights, and platform tools.
  • • You will become a trusted advisor to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with existing online presences, guiding them on how to successfully transition or expand into live selling on Whatnot by understanding their unique goals, inventory, and audience engagement patterns.
  • • You will collaborate closely with product, marketing, and seller success teams to relay field feedback, influence product improvements, and co-develop go-to-market strategies for emerging categories, ensuring that Whatnot remains agile and responsive to seller needs.
  • • You will use CRM systems and key performance metrics to track pipeline health, forecast outcomes, identify trends in seller success, and iterate on your approach—turning data into actionable insights that improve conversion rates, retention, and long-term seller growth.
  • • You will operate in a fast-moving, ambiguous startup environment where initiative and adaptability are valued over rigid processes, allowing you to shape your own approach to seller acquisition while contributing to the evolution of live commerce as a new industry category.
  • • You will join a remote-first, globally distributed team with hubs in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, where in-person collaboration is encouraged for strategic planning and team bonding, blending flexibility with meaningful connection.
  • • You will grow your expertise in live commerce, SMB sales, marketplace dynamics, and consultative selling—developing skills that are highly transferable and future-focused as you help define what successful seller enablement looks like in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced, client-facing or sales role with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • • Experience managing full sales cycles, including prospecting, pitching, closing, and onboarding new clients or partners
  • • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and comfort learning new systems quickly
  • • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data to inform sales strategy and seller coaching
  • • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in video and phone-based seller engagements
  • • Self-motivated, scrappy mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguous environments with minimal guidance

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Generous holiday and time-off policy, plus monthly wellness and childcare allowances to support holistic well-being
  • • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and retirement benefits including 401(k) with up to 4% employer match in the U.S.
  • • Work-from-home support with home office setup allowance and monthly stipends for cell phone and internet expenses
  • • Parental leave: 16 weeks paid + one month gradual return, with lifetime benefits for family planning (adoption, fertility)
  • • Monthly allowance to actively use Whatnot as both a buyer and seller (dogfooding) to deepen product understanding
  • • Opportunity to shape the future of live commerce in a mission-driven, high-growth startup recognized as a top employer
