  • • Avantor is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP EH&S Functional Expert to join our dynamic Information Technology team, operating remotely within the United States. This pivotal role serves as the central point of contact and subject matter expert for all SAP Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) related matters, bridging the gap between global business users and the IT department. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design, configuration, implementation, and ongoing support of SAP EH&S solutions, ensuring the company's adherence to stringent global safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. A deep understanding of EH&S business processes and the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust and effective SAP functionalities are paramount for success in this position.
  • • As the SAP EH&S Functional Expert, you will be responsible for supporting a wide array of global business processes. This includes, but is not limited to, product safety management, dangerous goods handling, industrial hygiene monitoring, and occupational health initiatives. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our SAP systems accurately reflect and support these critical functions, thereby safeguarding our employees, the environment, and our compliance standing.
  • • A core aspect of this role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders across various departments and global regions. You will be tasked with meticulously gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements for new EH&S-related projects and enhancements. This analytical work will form the foundation for designing, configuring, testing, and ultimately implementing SAP EH&S modules and associated system improvements. Your ability to translate these requirements into practical, efficient SAP configurations will directly impact the company's operational effectiveness and compliance posture.
  • • Ensuring compliance with diverse and evolving global regulatory requirements is a key objective. You will leverage your system design and data management skills to ensure that SAP EH&S configurations meet these mandates, such as REACH, GHS, and OSHA standards. This includes managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), label generation, and substance volume tracking, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of critical compliance information.
  • • Beyond project work, you will provide essential real-time production support for the SAP EH&S module. This involves troubleshooting issues, responding to user inquiries, and resolving system problems promptly to minimize disruption to business operations. Your proactive approach to support will be vital in maintaining system stability and user satisfaction.
  • • You will also work collaboratively with internal IT teams, external development partners, contractors, and vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality, integrated SAP solutions. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for successful project execution and ongoing system maintenance.
  • • Staying abreast of the latest SAP EH&S innovations, industry best practices, and regulatory changes is a continuous requirement. You will be expected to proactively identify opportunities for system optimization and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the SAP EH&S landscape, ensuring Avantor remains at the forefront of compliance and operational excellence.
  • • The role demands a strong understanding of SAP Master Data management and its integration points with other critical SAP modules such as Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), and Quality Management (QM). This integrated view is essential for holistic system design and troubleshooting.
  • • Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing change control processes, supporting system validation activities, and maintaining comprehensive documentation, particularly within the context of a regulated industry environment. Your meticulous attention to detail in these areas will be critical for audit readiness and compliance.
  • • The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving capabilities, strong analytical skills, and outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling effective collaboration with diverse global teams. The capacity to work both independently and as part of a global, cross-functional team is essential for navigating the complexities of this role.
