  • • As a Scrum Master 2 at Humana Inc., you will play a pivotal role in fostering an agile environment that drives the iterative and incremental delivery of high-quality products and services to our customers. You will act as a catalyst for change, ensuring that evolving processes are optimized for the entire team, and serve as a dedicated servant leader. Your primary focus will be on creating an environment that empowers and energizes team members, emphasizing accountability, adaptability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • • You will guide the Scrum Team in effectively utilizing Scrum and other agile methodologies and patterns. This involves not only adhering to established frameworks but also actively contributing to their evolution and improvement within the team context. You will learn to navigate various coaching stances – coaching, mentoring, teaching, and facilitating – to cultivate the agile skills and mindset of team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • • A key responsibility is to support and nurture an environment that empowers and energizes team members. This means fostering psychological safety, encouraging open communication, and promoting a sense of shared ownership and accountability. You will work towards developing self-organization and team cohesion, helping the team reach its highest potential in terms of productivity and collaboration.
  • • You will be instrumental in co-facilitating and supporting all core Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Furthermore, you will contribute to larger agile ceremonies such as Program Increment (PI) Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt (I&A) sessions, ensuring seamless integration and alignment across teams and programs.
  • • You will co-mentor the Product Owner in the critical areas of user story creation, prioritization, and Product Backlog Refinement. This includes ensuring that the team's focus remains sharp on technical needs, such as enhancing testing and deployment processes, thereby contributing to the overall quality and efficiency of product delivery.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will be to facilitate team productivity by proactively identifying and removing impediments that could obstruct the team's progress towards its goals. This requires a keen ability to anticipate challenges, maintain flexibility, and enable the team to respond rapidly to changes in priorities or requirements.
  • • You will regularly leverage data and team metrics to provide clear insights into team capacity, predictability, and maturity. This data-driven approach will inform decision-making, highlight areas for improvement, and demonstrate the team's progress and value delivery.
  • • You will help make the team's work visible across the organization and ensure that identified impediments are addressed promptly and effectively. This transparency is crucial for building trust and alignment with stakeholders and other teams.
  • • You will assist teams in navigating through organizational change by applying established change management frameworks, such as Kotter’s Leading Change and PROSCI ADKAR. This ensures that change is managed effectively, with minimal disruption and maximum buy-in from team members.
  • • Collaboration is key; you will work closely with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to contribute to the continuous improvement of Agile practices across the organization. This includes actively participating in and contributing to Communities of Practice, sharing knowledge, and learning from peers.
  • • You will develop a deep understanding of work impact, concepts, strategies, and operating objectives, recognizing their linkages to broader organizational goals. Your decisions will be informed by established parameters for work expectations and quality standards, with latitude for interpreting policies to determine the most effective approach, priorities, and work methods, while adhering to established policies and practices with opportunities for deviation where appropriate.
  • • This role is crucial for driving efficiency, fostering a positive and productive team dynamic, and ensuring that Humana continues to deliver exceptional healthcare services and products through agile methodologies.
