Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • This is a pivotal role for a seasoned Senior Account Manager within the commercial insurance sector, offering a unique opportunity to work directly alongside the Managing Director (Jim) in a high-trust, comprehensive broking capacity. You will be instrumental in managing the entire policy lifecycle for a diverse portfolio of commercial clients, from initial instruction to final renewal. This position demands a proactive, independent, and detail-oriented professional who can expertly interpret client needs, structure complex risks, engage with the insurance market, and deliver optimal solutions.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to act as the key point of contact for allocated commercial clients and new business enquiries, following initial engagement by Jim. You will be adept at translating client discussions, including informal voice notes, into actionable plans and meticulously identifying potential exposures across a range of insurance classes.
  • • A core function of this role involves the strategic structuring of appropriate insurance programs. This includes, but is not limited to, Professional Indemnity, Management Liability, and Commercial Property, along with associated lines of business. You will need a deep understanding of these products and how they apply to various commercial operations.
  • • You will be responsible for approaching a diverse panel of insurers and underwriters to secure competitive terms and favourable conditions. This requires strong market knowledge, negotiation skills, and the ability to present risks clearly and persuasively.
  • • Preparing and submitting comprehensive proposal forms and underwriting information will be a regular task. Accuracy and completeness are paramount to ensure a smooth and successful placement process.
  • • A critical part of your role will be the thorough analysis and comparison of quotes received from insurers. You will meticulously evaluate terms, limits, deductibles, and endorsements, providing clear, concise recommendation summaries for Jim’s review and final approval.
  • • You will be expected to draft professional client communications, including emails, proposals, and detailed recommendation reports. Clarity, professionalism, and accuracy in written English are essential.
  • • You will serve as the liaison between clients and insurers, managing communications regarding subjectivities, endorsements, and ongoing negotiations to ensure all parties are aligned and satisfied.
  • • Maintaining precise and up-to-date records within the broking/CRM systems and shared digital filing structures is crucial for operational efficiency and compliance.
  • • This role encompasses the full spectrum of policy lifecycle management, including new business acquisition, renewals, endorsements, and mid-term adjustments. You will ensure all client needs are met promptly and efficiently.
  • • You will be responsible for checking and issuing policy documentation, ensuring it accurately reflects the agreed terms and conditions.
  • • Developing and maintaining structured manual and digital checklists, including preferred insurer panels for specific product lines, will help streamline processes and ensure consistency.
  • • Proactive follow-up management is key; you will set and manage reminders and chasers (e.g., 10-day follow-ups) to guarantee that no critical deadlines or actions are missed, thereby upholding service standards.
  • • While not a primary claims handling role, you will provide essential support by gathering necessary information and coordinating with insurers as required to assist clients during the claims process.
  • • A significant aspect of this position is proactive risk oversight. You will be expected to identify potential gaps in coverage, emerging issues, or commercial opportunities that could benefit the client or the business.
  • • You must be comfortable escalating risks or concerns appropriately, demonstrating a commitment to thoroughness and avoiding a superficial “tick and flick” approach to processing. Your commercial judgement will be vital in ensuring clients are adequately protected and that the business operates with integrity.
  • • This role offers a dynamic and challenging environment where you can leverage your expertise to build strong client relationships, contribute to business growth, and operate with a high degree of autonomy and trust.
