Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • Havoc AI Inc. is at the forefront of collaborative autonomy, developing cutting-edge autonomous surface vessels for critical defense and commercial maritime missions. We are a rapidly growing company dedicated to solving complex problems, pushing technological boundaries, and ultimately contributing to preventing conflict and saving lives. Ambition and a passion for innovation are highly valued here.
  • • As a Senior Accountant at Havoc AI Inc., you will play a pivotal role within our finance team, taking ownership of core accounting responsibilities and driving improvements in our processes, controls, and systems as the company experiences significant growth. This is a high-visibility position within a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your technical accounting expertise, operational discipline, and ability to navigate ambiguity will be crucial for success. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence while fostering strong cross-functional partnerships across the organization.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a broad range of accounting functions. You will be instrumental in owning and executing key components of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. This includes the preparation and meticulous review of journal entries, comprehensive account reconciliations, and detailed supporting schedules. You will be responsible for recording and reviewing all financial transactions, accruals, and expenses, ensuring strict adherence to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP). A significant part of your role will involve performing thorough variance analysis to understand financial performance and providing essential support for internal financial reporting.
  • • In operational accounting, you will manage the day-to-day activities across several critical areas. This includes overseeing revenue and accounts receivable processes, managing inventory accounting, handling lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, tracking fixed assets and depreciation, and managing prepaids and amortization. You will also be involved in treasury and cash management activities, as well as expense allocations, ensuring all are recorded and managed accurately.
  • • A specialized focus will be placed on revenue and government accounting. You will apply and support ASC 606 revenue recognition principles, with a particular emphasis on percentage-of-completion and project-based accounting methodologies. Furthermore, you will perform detailed cost accounting for government contracts, meticulously tracking both direct and indirect costs. This aspect of the role requires a strong understanding and support of compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
  • • You will be a key player in enhancing our systems, controls, and processes. This involves utilizing and optimizing our NetSuite ERP system for efficient accounting operations and robust reporting. You will be responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing comprehensive accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen our financial infrastructure. A core objective will be to continuously improve close processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and ensure our readiness for audits.
  • • Your role will also extend to audit and compliance activities. You will provide essential support for year-end audits and any regulatory examinations. This includes coordinating effectively with external auditors and tax partners, and managing personal property tax filings. Maintaining organized, complete, and audit-ready financial records will be a paramount responsibility.
  • • Finally, you will engage in complex ad hoc financial analyses to resolve discrepancies and contribute to strategic finance initiatives. This includes identifying opportunities for process improvements, system enhancements, and actively participating in broader finance projects that support the company's strategic objectives. Your contributions will directly impact the financial health and operational efficiency of Havoc AI Inc.
  • • The team at Havoc AI Inc. is comprised of passionate individuals dedicated to solving challenging problems and making a significant impact. We foster a culture of collaborative autonomy, where self-tasking teams work together to achieve ambitious goals. You will be joining a lean, fast-moving environment where innovation, integrity, and a mission-driven approach are paramount. We encourage a forward-leaning mindset, embracing change and anticipating future challenges with creativity and confidence.
  • • In this role, you will have the opportunity to deepen your technical accounting expertise, gain invaluable experience in government contracting accounting, and contribute to the scaling of a high-growth technology company. You will develop a strong understanding of ERP systems, internal controls, and process optimization, while also honing your analytical and cross-functional communication skills. Success in this position means delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining impeccable audit trails, and actively contributing to the continuous improvement of our finance function, positioning yourself as a reliable and indispensable partner to leadership and the wider business.
