Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Build end-to-end AI-powered product features using React/TypeScript for the frontend and Node.js/Python for the backend, focusing on customer-facing interfaces like streaming chat, intelligent summaries, and guided automation for compliance workflows.
- • Translate AI capabilities—including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and structured reasoning—into intuitive, polished user experiences that feel natural to compliance practitioners.
- • Partner with AI Engineers to define API contracts and output schemas, ensuring seamless integration between backend AI models and frontend product interfaces.
- • Advocate for the user’s perspective in technical decisions by identifying where AI model outputs fail in practice and iterating the product layer to improve reliability and trust.
- • Design and implement user-facing feedback loops that capture signal on AI output quality and make that data actionable for the broader AI team.
- • Instrument AI features with product-level observability metrics including latency, engagement, task completion, and drop-off rates, alongside end-to-end tests that validate full-stack behavior.
- • Establish reusable engineering patterns such as streaming hooks, feedback components, and AI state management systems to accelerate future AI feature development across the product.
- • Mentor junior engineers in AI product development, participating in design reviews with both technical depth and product instinct to elevate team capabilities.
- • Work within a hybrid model in San Francisco, collaborating in-office Tuesday through Thursday for high-impact team alignment, with flexible remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
- • Operate within cross-functional product teams alongside AI/ML engineers, product managers, and designers, navigating ambiguous requirements and fast-paced iteration cycles.
- • Ensure all AI features include graceful degradation, human-in-the-loop interaction patterns, and real-time streaming capabilities to maintain usability under uncertain model outputs.
- • Contribute to defining the standard for how AI features look, feel, and behave across Drata’s product, setting a benchmark for the entire engineering organization.
- • Drive the transformation of compliance from a manual, document-heavy process into an intelligent, always-on experience by embedding AI directly into user workflows.
- • Influence the product roadmap by identifying gaps and opportunities at the intersection of customer experience and AI capability layers.
- • Deliver features that make compliance practitioners more capable and confident by turning complex AI intelligence into trusted, usable product interactions.
- • Maintain a strong focus on automation-first principles, ensuring efficiency and scalability in every aspect of feature development.
- • Uphold Drata’s values of trust, integrity, customer-obsession, competitive fire, diversity, and automation-first in all technical and collaborative decisions.

- • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building responsive, interactive UIs with real-time and streaming data
- • Solid experience with Python and Node.js for backend development and integrating with LLM providers, orchestration frameworks, or AI services
- • Practical understanding of prompt engineering, RAG, structured outputs, and AI quality evaluation methods
- • Experience implementing streaming response patterns (SSE, WebSockets, chunked HTTP) and building UIs that handle partial or uncertain AI outputs
