📋 Description

• Build end-to-end AI-powered product features using React/TypeScript for the frontend and Node.js/Python for the backend, ensuring real-time streaming, graceful degradation, and human-in-the-loop interactions
• Translate AI capabilities such as RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and structured reasoning into intuitive, user-friendly product experiences for compliance practitioners
• Partner with AI Engineers to define API contracts and output schemas, ensuring seamless integration between backend intelligence and frontend interfaces
• Advocate for the user’s perspective in technical decisions by identifying where model outputs fail in practice and iterating the product layer to improve reliability and trust
• Design and implement user-facing feedback loops that capture signal on AI output quality and make that data actionable for the broader AI team
• Instrument AI features with product-level observability metrics including latency, engagement, task completion, and drop-off rates, alongside end-to-end tests that validate full-stack behavior
• Establish reusable patterns such as streaming hooks, feedback components, and AI state management systems to accelerate future AI feature development
• Mentor junior engineers in AI product development practices and actively participate in design reviews with both engineering depth and product instinct
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to shape the vision for AI features while maintaining technical ownership of implementation
• Ensure AI features feel natural and trustworthy to users by prioritizing user experience alongside technical functionality, asking "does this feel right to the user" as consistently as "does this work technically"
• Develop streaming UIs using SSE, WebSockets, or chunked HTTP to handle partial, progressive, and uncertain outputs from LLMs in real time
• Work within a hybrid model in San Francisco, collaborating in-office Tuesday through Thursday for high-impact team alignment and innovation, with flexible Mondays and Fridays for focused work
• Contribute to setting the standard for how AI features look, feel, and behave across Drata’s product, influencing the entire product engineering organization
• Accelerate the velocity of AI product development by creating reusable components and interfaces that reduce time-to-market for future features
• Influence the AI product roadmap by identifying gaps and opportunities through direct proximity to both customer experience and underlying AI capabilities
• Ensure all AI features are built with compliance practitioners as the central user, making complex compliance tasks feel effortless through intelligent automation

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping full-stack features in production
• 2+ years of hands-on experience working on AI-powered product features
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building responsive, interactive UIs that handle async, streaming, and real-time data
• Solid skills in Python and Node.js for backend development and API integration with LLM providers and AI services
• Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) and practical understanding of prompt engineering, context management, RAG, and structured outputs
• Experience implementing streaming response patterns (SSE, WebSockets, chunked HTTP) and building UIs for partial or uncertain model outputs
