📋 Description

• Own the full-stack development of customer-facing AI features embedded directly within Drata’s product, translating LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows into intuitive UI experiences like streaming chat interfaces, intelligent summaries, and guided automation for compliance practitioners.
• Build end-to-end AI product features using React/TypeScript for frontend and Node.js/Python for backend, ensuring real-time streaming, graceful degradation, and human-in-the-loop interaction patterns.
• Partner with AI Engineers to define API contracts and output schemas, translating technical AI capabilities into product interactions that feel natural and trustworthy to users.
• Advocate for the user’s perspective in technical decisions by surfacing breakdowns in model outputs and iterating the product layer to improve reliability and usability.
• Design and implement user-facing feedback loops that capture signal on AI output quality and make it actionable for the broader AI team to improve model performance.
• Instrument AI features with product-level observability metrics including latency, engagement, task completion, and drop-off rates, alongside end-to-end tests that validate full-stack behavior.
• Establish reusable engineering patterns such as streaming hooks, feedback components, and AI state management systems to accelerate future AI feature development across the product.
• Mentor junior engineers on AI product development best practices and participate in design reviews with both technical depth and product instinct.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to shape the vision for AI features, operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where requirements evolve rapidly.
• Ensure AI-powered features meet the needs of compliance practitioners by grounding technical decisions in real-world user behavior and workflow constraints.
• Deliver polished, production-grade AI experiences that make compliance feel effortless, with a focus on reliability, clarity, and trustworthiness in every interaction.
• Contribute to setting the standard for how AI features look, feel, and behave across Drata’s product portfolio, influencing the entire engineering organization’s approach to AI productization.
• Drive velocity in AI feature shipping by creating reusable components and interfaces that reduce time-to-market for subsequent AI initiatives.
• Maintain a deep focus on user experience, asking not just “does this work?” but “does this feel right to the user?” — balancing technical execution with product intuition.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping full-stack features in production
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building AI-powered product features using LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic)
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building responsive, interactive UIs that handle streaming and real-time data
• Solid experience with Python and Node.js for backend development and integrating with LLM providers, orchestration frameworks, or AI services
• Practical understanding of RAG, prompt engineering, structured outputs, and agent frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph
• Experience implementing streaming response patterns (SSE, WebSockets, chunked HTTP) and building UIs for partial, uncertain, or progressive outputs
