- • Spearhead the civil and structural engineering efforts for groundbreaking New Nuclear Plant Projects, contributing to the design and development of critical infrastructure.
- • Take ownership of system design deliverables, including the meticulous creation of system design specifications, ensuring all structural analyses and calculations are performed to the highest standards.
- • Conduct in-depth Soil-Structure-Interaction (SSI) analysis for safety-related structures within Nuclear Power Plants, ensuring their integrity and resilience under various conditions.
- • Design and analyze safety-related Nuclear Power Plant structures, adhering strictly to rigorous industry codes such as ASME B&PV Section III Division 2, AISC N690, and ACI 349.
- • Perform sophisticated static and dynamic analyses on complex structures, including NI (Nuclear Island) and Containment structures, utilizing advanced computer codes like SAP4, ANSYS, and/or NASTRAN.
- • Investigate and precisely analyze the impact of thermal stresses within the reactor containment, developing effective solutions to resolve any identified over-stress conditions.
- • Define critical hydrodynamic input loads essential for calculating the dynamic response of containment structures and for the comprehensive design of the reactor containment and its associated components.
- • Analyze the profound effects of potential hazards such as missiles, aircraft impact, and severe wind events on reinforced concrete structures, ensuring robust safety margins.
- • Develop comprehensive engineering reports and critical licensing documentation, effectively communicating complex technical information to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- • Serve as a key technical liaison, interfacing with internal and external customers, suppliers, project partners, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and international regulatory authorities to address technical inquiries and ensure project alignment.
- • Seamlessly integrate design requirements into all analyses and design documents, meticulously preparing systems documentation using designated requirements management tools to maintain traceability and control.
- • Lead and execute design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for a diverse range of Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) structural systems, driving innovation and ensuring compliance.
- • Apply extensive engineering knowledge and practical experience to the thorough analysis, investigation, and resolution of complex design challenges and application issues, fostering a culture of problem-solving.
- • Develop detailed engineering drawings and precise specifications that guarantee products can reliably meet all specified engineering and quality requirements throughout their lifecycle.
- • Collaborate proactively with existing BWR product line and quality personnel, actively participating in process procedure approvals, process qualification approvals, and the disposition of non-conforming materials to uphold quality standards.
- • Execute work tasks in strict accordance with current regulatory guides and industry standards applicable to the Systems and Equipment, including their associated components and interfaces with other systems, ensuring full compliance.
- • Ensure the on-time, high-quality delivery of equipment packages and engineering documentation, meticulously aligning with contract requirements, established business procedures, and stringent regulatory agency guidelines.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains.
- • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring the transfer of critical knowledge and best practices within the team.
- • Participate in technical reviews and design validation activities, providing expert insights and ensuring the robustness of engineering solutions.
- • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in civil and structural engineering, particularly within the nuclear sector, and integrate new technologies and methodologies into project execution.
- • Support the development of cost-effective and technically sound engineering solutions that meet project objectives and client expectations.
- • Engage in risk assessment and mitigation strategies related to civil and structural design aspects of nuclear projects.
