- • The Senior Computational Research Scientist leads, performs, and develops computational research projects under minimal supervision, driving discovery of novel small molecule modulators for pediatric disease targets.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include leading computationally focused research projects, developing new computational methods, identifying and interpreting complex data, directing data collection, presenting findings internally and externally, drafting manuscripts, and training and overseeing others in computational techniques.
- • The role is situated within the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics at ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a mission-driven institution dedicated to advancing cures and prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.
- • The individual will deepen expertise in computer-aided drug design, molecular dynamics, docking, pharmacophore modeling, QSAR, and chemical informatics while gaining experience in collaborative translational science environments and high-performance computing resources.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
- • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent via Master’s +5 years or PhD +2 years).
- • Strong background in computational chemistry including molecular dynamics simulations, molecular docking, pharmacophore modeling, QSAR modeling, and chemical informatics.
- • Proficiency in scientific computing languages such as R and Python, and experience with open-source tools like Knime, RDKit, and ChemProp.
- • Experience using high performance computing resources and developing/maintaining chemical and biological databases.
- • Proven track record of research output, including 1-2 first-author papers with impact factor >10 or equivalent contributions.
