  • • Design, develop, and commission advanced PLC-based control systems for automated medical waste processing equipment operating in high-throughput, safety-critical healthcare environments.
  • • Integrate robotics and machine vision systems into industrial automation platforms to enhance precision, throughput, and operational reliability of waste processing machinery.
  • • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to translate functional requirements into robust, scalable control architectures that meet FDA and OSHA compliance standards.
  • • Perform system validation, troubleshooting, and field support for deployed automation systems across hospital and clinical waste management sites in the U.S. and Canada.
  • • Lead the design and implementation of human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and SCADA systems to provide real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and operator control for medical waste processing lines.
  • • Optimize existing control logic and machine cycles to improve equipment uptime, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste handling errors in compliance with infection control protocols.
  • • Document all control system designs, code, and test procedures in accordance with ISO 13485 and internal quality management system requirements.
  • • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory benchmarks prior to deployment.
  • • Provide technical leadership during installation, commissioning, and training phases at customer locations, including travel to hospitals, waste treatment facilities, and manufacturing sites.
  • • Work closely with product management and regulatory affairs to ensure control system designs align with evolving healthcare safety standards and global market requirements.
  • • Maintain and update control system schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bill of Materials (BOM) documentation for production and service teams.
  • • Identify opportunities for automation improvements through data analysis of equipment performance metrics and field feedback from service engineers.
  • • Support root cause analysis of field failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence in next-generation systems.
  • • Conduct training sessions for internal service teams and external clients on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • • Ensure all control system designs incorporate fail-safe mechanisms, redundancy protocols, and emergency stop functionalities required for medical device environments.
  • • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies in industrial automation, including IIoT, edge computing, and predictive maintenance, and evaluate their applicability to Daniels Health’s product line.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field
  • • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing and commissioning PLC control systems in industrial automation environments
  • • Proven expertise with Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet)
  • • Experience integrating robotics (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA) and machine vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) into automated production lines
  • • Familiarity with FDA, OSHA, and ISO 13485 regulatory requirements for medical device manufacturing or healthcare equipment
  • • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally
