- ⢠Serve as a key member of Drataâs growing data team, building and scaling data products that power analytics, product decisions, engineering services, and ML models across the organization.
- ⢠Automate data workflows as a core company value, eliminating manual processes through scalable, reliable data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT and Reverse ETL practices.
- ⢠Design, implement, and optimize the data modeling layer to ensure accurate, consistent, and accessible data for all teams at Drata.
- ⢠Improve query performance, data ingestion speed, and processing efficiency to support high-velocity decision-making across engineering, product, and analytics teams.
- ⢠Establish and enforce strong data governance standards to maintain data integrity, lineage, and compliance across all datasets.
- ⢠Create comprehensive documentation and training materials to enable analysts and non-technical users to self-serve data, transform datasets, and build reports with minimal engineering support.
- ⢠Collaborate closely with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Analytics Engineers to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions.
- ⢠Interview, hire, and onboard future data engineers to scale the data team in alignment with Drataâs hyper-growth trajectory.
- ⢠Administer and manage orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran, Stitch, Airbyte, Looker, Mode, Sigma, Hightouch, or Census to streamline data movement and transformation.
- ⢠Translate complex data architectures, queries, and pipelines into clear, understandable explanations for non-technical stakeholders to foster data literacy across the company.
- ⢠Contribute to the strategic vision of Drataâs data department, ensuring it enables autonomous, data-driven decision-making at scale.
- ⢠Maintain a relentless focus on automation, precision, and velocityâaligning all work with Drataâs core cultural values of being customer-obsessed, mission-driven, and owner-operated.
- ⢠Work in a hybrid model: in-office Tuesday through Thursday in San Francisco for collaboration; Mondays and Fridays are flexible for focused work and autonomy.
đŻ Requirements
- ⢠5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
- ⢠Fluent in writing complex, performant analytical SQL
- ⢠Proficient in Python for data engineering tasks
- ⢠Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Stitch, Airbyte, Looker, Mode, Sigma, Hightouch, or Census
- ⢠Strong communication skills to explain technical data concepts to non-technical audiences
- ⢠Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
