You will own the frontend architecture from concept to production, ensuring every line of code raises the bar for quality, maintainability, and user experience.
- • Champion a culture of technical excellence by pairing daily with engineers across all experience levels, running architecture guilds, and facilitating code-review rituals that turn feedback into shared learning moments. Your influence will ripple outward, shaping not just your immediate squad but the broader Thoughtworks engineering community.
- • Translate ambitious product visions into pragmatic technical roadmaps. You will collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to break epics into incremental slices that deliver value early and often, while keeping an eye on long-term scalability and extensibility.
- • Drive continuous delivery best practices: trunk-based development, automated testing at every layer (unit, integration, visual regression, accessibility), and deployment pipelines that push to production multiple times a day with confidence. You will treat build, test, and deploy as first-class citizens of the codebase.
- • Proactively monitor and improve the health of your codebase through metrics such as bundle size, Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse scores, and accessibility audits. When numbers drift, you rally the team to refactor, optimize, and document until standards are restored.
- • Mentor and grow the next generation of Thoughtworkers. From structured onboarding plans to informal lunch-and-learns, you will invest time in 1:1 coaching, craft compelling career stories, and create opportunities for junior developers to present at meetups and conferences.
- • Navigate complex stakeholder landscapes by translating technical trade-offs into business impact. Whether you are presenting to C-suite executives or running a sprint demo for end-users, you communicate with clarity, empathy, and data-backed conviction.
- • Stay on the leading edge of frontend innovation—evaluating new frameworks, experimenting with edge-side rendering, micro-frontends, or WebAssembly—then distilling those experiments into pragmatic adoption strategies that balance risk with reward.
- • Contribute to open-source projects and internal accelerators that give back to the wider tech community. Your pull requests, blog posts, and conference talks will amplify Thoughtworks’ reputation as a thought leader in modern web development.
- • Uphold and evolve our engineering playbook: inclusive code-review guidelines, accessibility checklists, security threat-modeling templates, and incident-response runbooks. You will treat documentation as living product, iterating alongside the code it describes.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of hands-on experience building large-scale, responsive web applications with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, or Svelte) and a demonstrable portfolio shipped to production.
- • Deep expertise in frontend testing strategies—Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright—and the ability to embed a culture of automated quality gates within CI/CD pipelines.
- • Proven track record of leading technical decisions in cross-functional agile teams, evidenced by architecture decision records (ADRs), performance budgets, and measurable improvements in user-centric metrics.
- • Strong mentorship and coaching skills, with concrete examples of having grown engineers from junior to mid-level or mid-level to senior, ideally within a consultancy or fast-paced product environment.
- • Nice-to-have: experience with micro-frontend architectures, server-side rendering (Next.js, Nuxt, Remix), accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), and cloud-native deployment patterns (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure).
