- • As a Software Engineer Intern on the Data Platform team, you will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our enterprise data warehouse and the intricate processes that ensure its end-to-end reliability. You will be instrumental in managing the flow of data from application development and maintenance all the way through to post-production, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- • You will have the exciting opportunity to ship technically challenging projects from conception to completion within our iterative and fast-paced development cycle. This hands-on experience will allow you to see the direct impact of your contributions on key business metrics, providing a deep understanding of how data drives strategic decisions.
- • Take ownership of critical components, including features, services, caches, and databases. This ownership extends to all aspects of the software development lifecycle: deployment, vigilant monitoring, meticulous debugging, and comprehensive testing. You'll be writing production-ready, well-tested code from your very first week, demonstrating your ability to adapt and deliver quickly.
- • Work directly on our product analytics backend service and our sophisticated data pipelines. This involves ingesting, cleaning, validating, and organizing raw data into formats that are not only useful for product development but also facilitate in-depth analysis and insight generation.
- • Act as a champion for our data-driven culture. You will transform raw data into actionable intelligence, empowering various teams across the organization to make informed decisions. This includes helping to shape data strategies and ensuring consistency and predictability in data consumption across different systems.
- • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of existing processes. You will then leverage this knowledge to design and implement improved, automated solutions, driving efficiency and accuracy within our data operations.
- • Gain exposure to our state-of-the-art tech stack, which is primarily built on microservices written in Python using FastAPI. You'll work with Postgres for our relational database needs and utilize Gitlab for version control and CI/CD pipelines. Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS, leveraging Kubernetes for orchestration. We pride ourselves on a rapid deployment cycle, where merged code typically reaches production in under 30 minutes.
- • Become proficient in our advanced monitoring and alerting tools, including Datadog for application performance, Elementary for data quality checks, and BigEye for data freshness monitoring. You'll also interact with Amplitude for client-side metrics and experimentation, Snowflake as our data warehouse, and Airflow for orchestrating complex data pipelines.
- • This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, mirroring the responsibilities of a full-time engineer. You will be fully integrated into the team, participating in all relevant meetings, Slack communications, and team-building activities, ensuring a connected and supportive remote work environment. Many of our past interns have cited this as the most impactful learning experience of their academic careers.
- • The Summer Term for this internship runs from May 11, 2026, to August 21, 2026. We are looking for candidates who can commit to a 40-hour work week and are based anywhere in Canada, provided they can maintain a minimum 6-hour overlap with the Eastern Time Zone.
🎯 Requirements
- • At least 8 months of backend development work experience, with a preference for exposure to dynamic, startup, or scale-up environments.
- • A solid understanding of relational databases and practical experience working with SQL.
- • Demonstrated ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly and effectively.
- • Proven experience in taking ownership of features and shipping them end-to-end.
- • Interest in working with ETL/ELT tools and building data pipelines.
- • Interest in Python backend development, schema design, and data modeling.
