• • As the Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be the inaugural dedicated infrastructure hire for the Sophea platform, a critical role that will shape the future of our platform's reliability and scalability. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and standardize robust deployment pipelines, architect and implement comprehensive observability solutions from inception, and extend our infrastructure-as-code practices across the entirety of our service landscape. While the foundational elements of our infrastructure are in place, your expertise will be crucial in ensuring their consistency, reliability, and scalability to meet the demands of enterprise-grade production environments.
• • You will be instrumental in managing and optimizing our sophisticated technology stack, which comprises over ten microservices built with Python (FastAPI) and TypeScript. These services are deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS), leveraging Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), App Runner, and Elastic Container Registry (ECR). Our data infrastructure relies on robust solutions including PostgreSQL, Redis, OpenSearch, Kafka, and Amazon S3. Your role will involve ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of these components.
• • Key responsibilities will include the standardization of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitHub Actions and the development and maintenance of Helm charts for our suite of over ten microservices. This will ensure a consistent and efficient deployment process across all our applications.
• • A significant aspect of your role will be to architect and implement a centralized system for logging, metrics, and alerting. Addressing the current gaps in observability is paramount to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring the high availability and performance of our platform.
• • You will extend our existing Terraform implementation to encompass the full spectrum of our AWS infrastructure, ensuring that all resources are managed through code for enhanced consistency, repeatability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• • Improving deployment reliability is a key objective. This includes establishing robust staging environments, implementing effective rollback strategies, and enhancing health check mechanisms to minimize downtime and ensure smooth transitions during updates.
• • Enhancing security posture is critical. You will implement measures such as container scanning, robust secrets management, and network policies to protect our infrastructure and data against evolving threats.
• • You will also focus on improving the local development experience for our engineering teams by orchestrating all services using Docker Compose, thereby streamlining the development workflow and enabling faster iteration cycles.
