Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the full life-cycle of Degreed’s Azure cloud infrastructure, designing, building, and continuously improving the platform that supports millions of learners and Fortune-500 customers worldwide.
- • Architect and automate resilient, cost-efficient, and secure Azure environments using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, Pulumi) while ensuring 99.9 %+ uptime and sub-second response times across global regions.
- • Lead the migration and modernization of legacy workloads into cloud-native services (AKS, Functions, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Event Hubs), reducing deployment friction and cutting infrastructure spend by double-digit percentages.
- • Establish and evangelize DevOps best practices—CI/CD, GitOps, trunk-based development, progressive delivery, and automated testing—so every engineer can ship features to production multiple times per day with confidence.
- • Build and maintain observability stacks (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana) that surface actionable insights, detect anomalies, and trigger self-healing workflows before users notice an issue.
- • Partner tightly with Security & Compliance to embed zero-trust principles, policy-as-code, and automated vulnerability scanning into every pipeline, ensuring SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP readiness without slowing delivery.
- • Mentor junior engineers and SREs through pair-programming, brown-bags, and architecture reviews, cultivating a culture of experimentation, blameless post-mortems, and relentless improvement.
- • Optimize cloud spend via rightsizing, reserved capacity, spot instances, and FinOps governance, delivering monthly savings reports to finance and engineering leadership.
- • Design disaster-recovery and business-continuity strategies (multi-region failover, automated backups, chaos engineering) that keep Degreed’s learning platform resilient during outages or regional incidents.
- • Collaborate with Product, Data, and Customer Success teams to translate business objectives into technical roadmaps, ensuring infrastructure investments directly accelerate upskilling outcomes for Degreed’s global user base.
- • Champion green engineering practices—measuring carbon footprint, selecting low-carbon Azure regions, and implementing auto-scaling policies that minimize idle resources.
- • Contribute to open-source DevOps tooling and speak at meetups or conferences, raising Degreed’s profile as a thought leader in cloud and learning technology.
