We are experiencing significant growth and are seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Senior Director, Assistant Controller to join our dynamic accounting team at our NYC Headquarters. This pivotal role will partner closely with the Controller to ensure the seamless and efficient operation of all accounting department functions and procedures, driving excellence and integrity in our financial reporting and operations.
- • In this critical leadership position, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our accounting operations. You will have the opportunity to oversee and mentor a growing Corporate Accounting team of over 10 professionals, encompassing Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL) functions. Your leadership will be key to fostering a high-performing team environment and ensuring the accurate and timely execution of all accounting tasks.
- • A core responsibility will be the end-to-end ownership of the month-end close process for more than 12 subsidiaries. This includes meticulously managing intercompany transactions, complex consolidations, and navigating the intricacies of foreign currency implications. Your expertise will ensure that our financial statements are accurate, compliant, and reflect the true financial health of our diverse business units.
- • You will be responsible for managing and monitoring assigned accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring strict adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards. Furthermore, you will guarantee compliance with all relevant tax and other regulatory requirements, safeguarding the company against financial and legal risks.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves partnering closely with our Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting team. Together, you will evaluate, implement, and continuously improve accounting policies, practices, and procedures. This collaborative effort will ensure our accounting framework remains robust, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices and evolving business needs.
- • You will play a crucial role in developing, enhancing, maintaining, and enforcing robust internal controls over financial reporting. This proactive approach is essential for maintaining compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) standards, demonstrating our commitment to transparency and corporate governance.
- • Supporting the Financial Reporting team is paramount. You will provide critical assistance in meeting both internal and external reporting requirements, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to timely and accurate financial information.
- • Collaboration extends beyond the accounting department. You will partner effectively with other areas within the broader Finance organization, such as Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Financial Reporting, as well as with external departments like Legal, to collectively achieve the company's strategic objectives.
- • Your contribution will also extend to financial planning. You will assist in the creation of the annual budget and financial forecasts, providing critical insights and data to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
- • As the primary liaison with external auditors, you will manage and facilitate financial and tax audits, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. You will also cultivate and manage strong relationships with the Company’s auditors, tax specialists, and other external service providers, fostering trust and collaboration.
- • A key function will be supporting the deal desk review process. This involves the critical assessment of new contract terms and their financial reporting implications, providing expert advice to the negotiating team to ensure favorable financial outcomes.
- • Finally, you will be a driving force in the continuous development and iteration of our accounting processes, systems, and infrastructure. This includes clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and ownership to optimize efficiency and effectiveness across the department.
