- • Lead the competitive intelligence practice for the Retirement Retail business, overseeing a team that collects, analyzes, and communicates insights on competitors and industry trends.
- • Conduct deep analysis of competitor product specifications, pricing strategies, target markets, marketing campaigns, and distribution channels to inform Protective Life’s strategic positioning.
- • Translate competitive insights into actionable recommendations that influence product development, marketing tactics, and overall business strategy within the Retirement Retail division.
- • Serve as a key member of the Retirement Product Strategy Leadership Team, contributing to high-level strategic decisions based on intelligence derived from market and competitor analysis.
- • Oversee the annuity rate setting and fund review process, ensuring alignment between competitive intelligence findings and product pricing and design decisions.
- • Integrate outcomes from annuity rate setting and fund reviews into the broader Product Intelligence function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of product offerings and resource allocation.
- • Communicate complex competitive and market insights clearly and persuasively to executive leadership, product teams, marketing, and sales stakeholders.
- • Monitor emerging competitors and disruptive market trends to anticipate shifts in the retirement products landscape and proactively adjust Protective’s strategy.
- • Establish and maintain standardized processes for gathering, validating, and reporting competitive intelligence across multiple data sources and internal systems.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Actuarial, Marketing, and Sales to ensure intelligence findings directly inform product roadmaps and go-to-market strategies.
- • Drive continuous improvement in the competitive intelligence function by identifying gaps in data coverage, enhancing analytical methodologies, and adopting industry best practices.
- • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the retail retirement market, including regulatory changes, consumer behavior shifts, and technological advancements impacting product design and delivery.
- • Ensure all intelligence outputs are timely, accurate, and aligned with the company’s risk management and compliance standards.
- • Act as the primary liaison between the Retirement Retail Intelligence team and other corporate intelligence functions to avoid duplication and maximize cross-functional synergy.
- • Mentor and develop team members to build a high-performing, data-driven competitive intelligence function capable of scaling with business growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading competitive intelligence or market research functions within the financial services or retirement products industry
- • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex product data, pricing models, and marketing strategies of competitors in the annuity and retirement space
- • Experience overseeing annuity rate setting, fund review processes, or similar actuarial/product pricing functions
- • Strong leadership experience managing teams of analysts or intelligence professionals
- • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present strategic insights to C-suite and senior leadership
- • Deep understanding of retail retirement products, including fixed, indexed, and variable annuities
