Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Transaction and invoice volumes have roughly tripled over the last 18 months, and the complexity of how we recognize revenue and run order to cash has grown with them.
- • We are looking for a Senior Director of Revenue Accounting & Order to Cash to own both the technical revenue accounting function and the end-to-end billing and collections operation, and to build the team, systems, and controls that let both scale with precision.
- • Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will be the company’s authority on revenue recognition across our SaaS, professional services, and fund administration revenue streams, and you will own the full order to cash cycle: billing in Zone, daily cash application, AR, and collections, across our U.S., Canadian, Indian, and Luxembourg entities.
- • This is a hands-on leadership role. You will set policy and defend technical positions with our external auditors, while staying close enough to the detail to own the hard judgments yourself.
- • The Senior Director of Revenue Accounting & Order to Cash will lead a team across revenue and billing, and partner closely with Deal Desk, FP&A, Fund Administration, and CX.
- • The role will involve owning ASC 606 revenue recognition across software subscription, professional services, and fund administration service revenue, including bundled arrangements where components carry different revenue treatment.
- • The Senior Director will also own the revenue close within a five business day cadence, lead all revenue and AR audit deliverables, and personally defend technical positions with our external auditors.
- • The role will involve partnering with FP&A on revenue forecasting and the bridge from contracted to recognized revenue, and supporting acquisition integration, including purchase accounting for revenue.
- • The Senior Director of Revenue Accounting & Order to Cash will also own the end-to-end order to cash function: billing operations, daily cash application, AR aging, and collections, across our U.S. and Luxembourg entities.
- • The role will involve partnering with Deal Desk, Revenue Operations and Legal to manage billing and rev rec commercial terms for new business, renewals, amendments, expansions, contractions, co-terming, and mid-term contract change.
- • The Senior Director will run complex billing at scale: tiered and variable pricing, usage-based charges, caps and overage, true-ups and true-downs, annual uplifts, and multi-year escalators and ramps.
- • The role will involve scaling billing operations to keep pace with step-change growth in transaction and invoice volume without losing accuracy or control, including throughput during peak quarterly fund administration billing cycles.
- • The Senior Director of Revenue Accounting & Order to Cash will ensure clean handling of complex and non-standard invoices and credit memos, and review the team’s highest-risk billing before it reaches customers.
- • The role will involve owning DSO as a key KPI and managing it to be best in class for the industry, and owning credit risk and customer account health, including the decision to suspend service for non-payment.
- • The Senior Director will also own the operating metrics for the function: DSO, aging, collection effectiveness, invoice cycle time, billing error rate, cash application match rate, and revenue leakage.
- • The role will involve treating AI as core to how this function runs, not a side project, and redesigning the work rather than adopting tools.
- • The Senior Director of Revenue Accounting & Order to Cash will lead and develop the revenue and billing team, building technical bench strength beneath you so that revenue recognition judgment is not a single point of failure.
- • The role will involve owning the revenue and billing systems roadmap across NetSuite, Zone, Salesforce, and Ironclad, and partnering cross-functionally with Deal Desk on contract structuring, Legal on terms that affect recognition, FP&A on forecasting, and Fund Administration and Customer Experience on billing and collections.
- • The Senior Director will own process improvement and the internal control environment across the full revenue and order to cash lifecycle, building toward a public company standard ahead of when it is required of us.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of progressive combined experience in revenue accounting and billing and collections leadership, including 5+ years of direct people management.
- • Deep, hands-on ASC 606 expertise. You have personally owned and defended technical revenue recognition positions with external auditors, not only reviewed others’ work. Working knowledge of IFRS 15 and non-U.S. GAAP is a plus.
- • Experience in both software and tech-enabled services. Private markets, fund administration, fund accounting, asset servicing, or fintech is a strong plus.
- • Experience billing variable fees at scale: usage, consumption, or fees calculated on a fluctuating asset base, and billing in arrears. Able to efficiently manage high-volume contract modifications
- • Proven track record scaling high-volume, complex billing and order to cash operations through rapid, step-change growth, in a multi-entity, multi-currency global environment.
- • NetSuite required. Zone or an equivalent NetSuite-native billing system strongly preferred. Salesforce familiarity for contract, account, and opportunity detail; experience with a contract lifecycle management system such as Ironclad is valuable.
- • Direct ownership of collections and accountability for a DSO target, with strong command of AR, cash application, and the metrics that govern them.
- • Demonstrated use of AI to drive real efficiency across accounting and operations workflows. We are looking for measurable workflow redesign, not tool adoption alone.
- • Experience leading a distributed team, including offshore.
- • A track record of rebuilding a process, not only running one that already worked.
- • Player-coach operating style: high standards, comfort with ambiguity and urgency, and the judgment to know which decisions to own personally and which to delegate.
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA strongly preferred. Public accounting foundation, with Big 4 or national firm a plus.
- • Public company reporting experience, or experience preparing a private company for a transaction, is a plus.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Health, dental, and vision care for you and your family
- • Life insurance
- • Mental wellness coverage
- • Fertility and growing family support
- • Flex Time Off in addition to company-paid holidays
- • Paid family leave, medical leave, and bereavement leave policies
- • Retirement saving plans
- • Allowance to customize your work and technology setup at home
- • Annual professional development stipend
