Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect, build, and continuously improve responsive Drupal 9/10 sites and web applications that serve millions of users across global brands, NGOs, and government clients. You will own the entire front-end layer—from atomic design tokens to production-ready Twig templates—ensuring pixel-perfect fidelity to Figma/Sketch prototypes while maximizing performance and accessibility.
- • Lead technical discovery workshops with UX, strategy, and back-end teams to translate complex business requirements into modular, reusable component libraries. You will define the front-end architecture, select optimal contrib modules, and create living style guides that accelerate future builds and reduce technical debt.
- • Champion accessibility and inclusive design by implementing WCAG 2.1 AA+ standards in every component. You will conduct regular audits with automated and manual testing tools (axe-core, Lighthouse, WAVE), mentor peers on semantic HTML, ARIA patterns, and keyboard navigation, and present findings to clients to secure buy-in for remediation roadmaps.
- • Drive code quality through rigorous pull-request reviews, enforcing Drupal coding standards, CSS/Sass architecture, and modern JavaScript best practices. You will configure pre-commit hooks, set up automated testing pipelines (PHPUnit, Nightwatch, Cypress), and establish performance budgets that keep Core Web Vitals in the green zone.
- • Provide accurate level-of-effort estimates and decompose epics into sprint-ready user stories. You will collaborate with project managers to balance scope, budget, and timeline, flagging risks early and proposing creative compromises that protect both user experience and profitability.
- • Serve as the front-end escalation point for production incidents and high-priority client requests. You will triage bugs, profile performance bottlenecks via New Relic or Blackfire, and deliver hotfixes or feature patches within SLA windows while documenting root-cause analyses for long-term resolution.
- • Contribute to the open-source Drupal community by submitting patches, maintaining custom modules, and presenting at camps or meetups. Your thought leadership will enhance Insomniac’s reputation and directly influence the product roadmap of Drupal core and popular contrib projects.
- • Continuously integrate AI-powered tooling into the development workflow—using GitHub Copilot for boilerplate generation, automated visual regression testing, and AI-driven accessibility checks—so the team can focus on creative problem-solving and high-value client interactions.
- • Collaborate across time zones with colleagues in Washington D.C., London, Bucharest, and Chisinau. You will facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, record bite-size Loom videos for asynchronous onboarding, and ensure seamless hand-offs that keep 24-hour development cycles running smoothly.
- • Influence the evolution of Insomniac’s technical stack by evaluating emerging front-end frameworks (e.g., Storybook, Decoupled Drupal with Next.js), hosting platforms, and CI/CD innovations. Your recommendations will shape multi-year client roadmaps and internal tooling investments.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years architecting and delivering enterprise-grade Drupal 8/9/10 sites, including custom themes, modules, and Views; portfolio must demonstrate responsive, accessible, and high-performance solutions
- • Mastery of Twig templating, Drupal theme layer, and core rendering pipeline; ability to extend and override templates without hacking core
- • Proven fluency in modern front-end build tools: Sass/SCSS, ES6+, Webpack/Babel, and component-based CSS architectures (BEM, SMACSS, or utility-first frameworks)
- • Demonstrated expertise in WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and ability to conduct audits with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and automated testing suites
- • Comfortable acting as client-facing technical consultant—translating business jargon into actionable user stories, presenting trade-offs, and negotiating scope while safeguarding user experience
- • Nice-to-have: Acquia certification (Front-End Specialist, Drupal Developer, or Site Builder), hands-on experience with Pantheon workflows, and active contributions to drupal.org (patches, modules, or issue queue participation)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours across GMT-5 to GMT+3, plus annual stipend for co-working space or ergonomic home-office setup
- • Five-week paid vacation, Moldovan public holidays, and a "recharge week" when the entire company powers down between Christmas and New Year
- • Annual professional development budget of $2,500 for conferences, certifications, and online courses, plus paid speaking opportunities at DrupalCons and WordCamps
- • Comprehensive private health insurance (incl. dental & vision) and quarterly mental-health days to prevent burnout
- • Profit-sharing bonus pool tied to company performance and individual impact, distributed every June and December
