  • • Design, develop, and validate custom electrical and mechanical test systems to push Shield AI’s V-BAT and X-BAT UAV hardware to its operational limits in real-world and extreme environments.
  • • Own the end-to-end development of automated test sequences for aerospace-grade hardware, ensuring compliance with mission-critical reliability standards.
  • • Design and prototype custom PCBs specifically for hardware validation, integrating power electronics, RF, and communications test circuits.
  • • Build and maintain electrical and mechanical test stands that simulate field conditions including vibration, thermal extremes, electromagnetic interference, and power anomalies.
  • • Collaborate with hardware design engineers to identify failure modes and translate them into targeted test scenarios that improve product robustness.
  • • Implement data acquisition systems to capture and analyze real-time electrical performance metrics during stress testing and environmental exposure.
  • • Develop scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, LabVIEW) to control test equipment, log results, and generate pass/fail reports with minimal manual intervention.
  • • Ensure all test systems adhere to aerospace industry standards for safety, repeatability, and traceability in documentation and calibration.
  • • Lead cross-functional initiatives to reduce test cycle time while increasing coverage and fidelity of hardware validation.
  • • Maintain and upgrade existing test infrastructure to support evolving product designs and new Hivemind Vision and Hivemind Enterprise integration requirements.
  • • Document test procedures, schematics, BOMs, and validation protocols for internal use and regulatory readiness.
  • • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians on best practices in hardware test design, safety protocols, and diagnostic methodologies.
  • • Work closely with manufacturing and quality teams to transition validated test systems into production readiness.
  • • Travel to field test sites and customer demonstration locations as needed to validate hardware performance under operational conditions.
  • • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis sessions to proactively improve hardware reliability.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred
  • • 7+ years of experience in hardware test engineering, particularly in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability systems
  • • Proven expertise in power electronics, RF systems, and communications test methodologies
  • • Hands-on experience designing custom PCBs for test applications
  • • Proficiency in automated test development using Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools
  • • Experience building and operating electrical and mechanical test stands under extreme environmental conditions
