- • Design, execute, and validate mechanical tests for Shield AI’s hardware systems including V-BAT and X-BAT aircraft, Hivemind Enterprise, and Hivemind Vision product lines.
- • Develop and implement custom measurement systems to quantify product performance under vibration, modal, structural, and environmental stress conditions.
- • Conduct specialized testing to evaluate how hardware performs in real-world operating environments to inform and improve engineering design decisions.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot hardware performance issues and recommend design improvements based on test data.
- • Analyze test results with rigor to identify failure modes, performance limits, and opportunities for reliability enhancement.
- • Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- • Document test procedures, methodologies, and findings in clear, detailed reports for engineering and leadership review.
- • Work in a dynamic lab environment to support rapid iteration cycles and product development timelines.
- • Participate in design reviews and provide mechanical test insights to influence early-stage product architecture.
- • Translate operational requirements from field use cases into test protocols that simulate real-world conditions for service members and civilians.
- • Ensure all testing activities align with Shield AI’s mission to protect service members and civilians through reliable, high-performance intelligent systems.
- • Communicate test outcomes effectively to engineers, program managers, and technical stakeholders to drive data-informed decision-making.
- • Stay current with industry best practices in mechanical testing, environmental simulation, and structural dynamics to continuously improve test capabilities.
- • Support the growth of the Mechanical Test team by mentoring junior engineers and contributing to process standardization.
- • Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values technical creativity, clear communication, and respectful debate to solve complex engineering problems.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- • Proven experience designing and executing mechanical tests including vibration, modal, structural, and environmental testing
- • Hands-on experience with test equipment calibration, data acquisition systems, and lab instrumentation
- • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex test data and derive actionable engineering insights
- • Experience working in a hardware development environment with cross-functional engineering teams
- • Excellent documentation and communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder presentations
