• • Lead the technical heartbeat of generosity. As Senior Engineering Manager at Virtuous, you will be the right-hand to our VP of Engineering and the catalyst for a 25-person, fully-remote engineering organization that is reinventing how nonprofits connect with donors. Your leadership will directly influence the experience of thousands of charities and millions of givers around the world.
• • Own the growth and performance of 10+ mid- and senior-level engineers across four autonomous squads. Through weekly 1:1s, quarterly career road-mapping, and hands-on coaching, you will turn high-potential developers into industry leaders while ensuring every squad ships with confidence and pride.
• • Champion engineering excellence without losing sight of the human side. You will facilitate architecture reviews, guide code-quality conversations, and occasionally roll up your sleeves to review pull requests—always with the goal of raising the bar and sharing knowledge, not gate-keeping.
• • Drive continuous delivery at scale. Partner with DevOps, QA, and Release to streamline CI/CD pipelines, slash build times, and cut bug-escape velocity in half. Your fingerprints will be on every deployment dashboard that shows green.
• • Break down silos and build bridges. You will orchestrate rituals that keep Product, Design, Customer Success, and Engineering tightly aligned—from quarterly OKR planning to bi-weekly demos—so that every feature we ship delights real-world fundraisers on day one.
• • Shape culture, not just process. Foster a remote-first environment where psychological safety, radical candor, and joyful service are lived values. Celebrate wins loudly, run blameless post-mortems, and make sure every engineer knows their work matters to the global generosity movement.
• • Be the magnet for top talent. Own the end-to-end hiring lifecycle: craft compelling job specs, run values-driven interviews, and close candidates who are as passionate about philanthropy as they are about elegant code. Then design onboarding that turns new hires into culture carriers within 30 days.
• • Translate strategy into execution. Work with the VP of Engineering to translate multi-year platform vision into quarterly roadmaps, sprint goals, and measurable KPIs. When priorities shift—as they do in a high-growth SaaS company—you will realign teams without burning them out.
• • Measure what matters. Build lightweight dashboards that track DORA metrics, customer NPS, and engineer satisfaction. Use data to tell stories that secure resources, spotlight wins, and surface risks before they become fires.
• • Model servant leadership. Whether it’s making the coffee on a Zoom call, jumping into a war-room incident, or quietly mentoring a struggling engineer, you lead by example and never ask anyone to do something you wouldn’t do yourself.
