- • Serve as the primary financial business partner to Delinea’s R&D organization and Chief Product Officer (CPO), providing strategic financial guidance on investment decisions, headcount planning, and operational priorities.
- • Own end-to-end financial workstreams for R&D, including annual operating plan (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and monthly close processes, ensuring alignment with company-wide financial objectives and timelines.
- • Build, maintain, and refine complex financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives such as vendor tooling decisions, infrastructure spend, build-vs-buy analyses, and cloud hosting cost optimization in close collaboration with Cloud Engineering.
- • Lead R&D headcount planning and budgeting cycles, ensuring alignment between human capital investments and product roadmap priorities, with accountability for accuracy and timeliness of all forecasts.
- • Drive rigorous monthly and quarterly variance analyses (actuals vs. plan/forecast), identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and delivering actionable insights to senior R&D and Finance leadership.
- • Support Pricing & Packaging initiatives by developing financial models to assess pricing tiers, packaging tradeoffs, and go-to-market economics, serving as the key finance resource without direct ownership of pricing strategy.
- • Prepare executive-ready financial presentations and narratives that translate complex data into clear, persuasive recommendations for CPO, Engineering, Product, and Finance leadership.
- • Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate and timely financial close reporting, providing detailed variance commentary and translating financial results into strategic business recommendations.
- • Develop scalable reporting frameworks and analytical tools to improve financial transparency and decision velocity across Engineering, Product, and Finance teams.
- • Identify and lead process improvements in FP&A workflows, leveraging AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to automate routine tasks, accelerate analysis, and enhance forecasting accuracy and deliverable quality.
- • Proactively surface financial risks and opportunities before being asked, enabling faster and better decision-making across the R&D organization.
- • Champion a data-driven culture across Finance and R&D by promoting analytical rigor, clear communication, and the practical application of AI in daily financial workflows.
- • Maintain and optimize the cloud hosting cost forecast, tracking key spend drivers, identifying anomalies, and recommending actions to control costs before inefficiencies escalate.
- • Contribute to the broader FP&A function as Delinea scales its financial infrastructure, including adoption and improvement of planning, reporting, and automation tools.
- • Operate with a high degree of independence and accountability, managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment with minimal oversight.
- • Act as a trusted advisor to R&D leadership, influencing strategic decisions through structured storytelling, financial discipline, and proactive insights.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, investment banking, accounting, or a related field
- • Direct experience supporting technical or R&D organizations (Engineering, Product, Design)
- • Proven experience in high-growth SaaS companies with familiarity with SaaS metrics (ARR, GRR, NRR, Bookings, Renewals, CLV)
- • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong financial modeling capability
- • Active, daily use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to accelerate analysis and improve deliverables
- • Exceptional communication skills and executive presence to influence senior leaders through clear, structured financial storytelling
