📋 Description

• Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide fraud mitigation strategies to protect M&T Bank and its Commercial and Business Banking clients from payment-related fraud losses.
• Serve as the central point of accountability for aligning cross-functional resources across Product, IT, Operations, Legal, Financial Crimes, and Cyber Security to strengthen fraud defense capabilities.
• Define and deliver client authentication solutions that are both secure and competitive in the market, ensuring seamless yet protected client interactions across digital channels.
• Establish and maintain an enterprise view of the fraud control investment portfolio and roadmap, advocating for strategic investments to close capability gaps and achieve best-in-class fraud prevention.
• Develop and implement educational programs and communications to inform Commercial and Business Banking clients, front-line teams, and support staff on emerging fraud trends, risk mitigation techniques, and policy changes.
• Act as the primary escalation point during fraud events, coordinating timely and consistent responses between clients, relationship teams, Legal, Financial Crimes, and service teams to ensure confidence and compliance.
• Collaborate with Legal, Financial Crimes, and Cyber Security to establish standardized guidelines for client communication and information sharing during fraud incidents.
• Design and oversee comprehensive fraud reporting frameworks that deliver actionable insights into fraud trends, risks, and program effectiveness to executive leadership.
• Ensure all fraud-related processes, policies, and tools align with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements for payment fraud.
• Drive initiatives to improve client experience, reduce fraud losses, and grow revenue from fraud mitigation products such as Positive Pay and other client-facing fraud control tools.
• Incorporate direct client feedback into product development and process improvements to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of fraud prevention offerings.
• Lead cross-functional teams to establish consensus on strategic end-states and translate them into concrete, measurable milestones with clear ownership and timelines.
• Navigate complex stakeholder environments across Business, Operations, IT, Risk, and Legal to deliver coordinated improvements in client capabilities, infrastructure, and operating processes.
• Maintain deep familiarity with M&T’s Fraud Mitigation Program components, including internal prevention/detection tools, client-facing fraud products, education initiatives, incident response playbooks, and analytical reporting.
• Evaluate the ongoing condition of the fraud mitigation program and deliver fact-based recommendations for continuous refinement and optimization.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 10 years’ proven experience in fraud, product management, financial operations, and/or project management, OR a combined minimum of 14 years of higher education and work experience including at least 10 years in marketing, product management, financial, operations, and/or project management
• Detailed understanding of bank payment systems, payment products, and digital channels
• Strong understanding of legal and regulatory compliance standards applicable to payments fraud
• Experience with technology tools focused on authentication and fraud prevention, including account takeover prevention solutions
• Proven ability to navigate and create cohesion among Business, Operations, IT, Risk, and Legal teams to deliver client-facing improvements
• Demonstrated ability to establish stakeholder consensus on strategic goals and lead execution through actionable milestones

🏖️ Benefits

• Annual pay range of $128,900.00 - $214,900.00 (USD)
• Remote work arrangement with no requirement to be based in a specific office
• Compensation determined by individual knowledge, skills, and experience
• National pay range applicable regardless of geographic location within the U.S.
