Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect the future of experiential commerce: As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Way, you will own the responsive front-end architecture that powers how millions of travelers discover and book once-in-a-lifetime experiences—from sunrise hot-air balloon rides over Mexico City to truffle hunts in the French countryside.
- • Craft pixel-perfect, user-centric interfaces: Using React, Styled-components, and Next.js, you will translate Figma designs into fluid, accessible UIs that delight both luxury-hotel concierges and adventurous guests on mobile, tablet, and desktop.
- • Ship scalable, reusable code: You will write TypeScript modules and CSS-in-JS components that are battle-tested for performance, accessibility, and maintainability, enabling other squads to compose new features in hours—not weeks.
- • Own entire product domains: From checkout flows that handle multi-currency, multi-language bookings to real-time inventory calendars synced with Hyatt and Hilton PMSs, you will take green-field ideas from whiteboard sketch to production at high velocity.
- • Collaborate across the stack: You will pair daily with product designers to refine UX, sync with backend engineers on GraphQL schemas, and sit shoulder-to-shoulder with customer-success to watch real users interact with your features in our downtown Austin office.
- • Drive data-driven iterations: Leverage GraphQL queries and Apollo caching to minimize payload size and maximize perceived speed, then instrument every interaction with Segment and Amplitude so the next sprint is guided by quantified impact.
- • Champion quality and testing: Establish Jest/React-Testing-Library suites, Chromatic visual regression, and Cypress E2E pipelines that run in GitHub Actions on every PR, ensuring each release meets the polish expected by five-star hospitality brands.
- • Mentor and elevate the team: Run weekly frontend guild sessions, review code with empathy, and introduce patterns that level-up junior engineers while keeping our bundle size under 250 KB.
- • Embrace continuous learning: Whether it’s the latest Next.js 14 features, CSS container queries, or AI-driven personalization APIs, you will prototype, document, and evangelize new technologies that keep Way two steps ahead of the industry.
- • Live the mission: Use your annual hotel and travel stipend to experience our partner offerings firsthand, then return with user insights that shape the next generation of the platform.
🎯 Requirements

- • Proven mastery of Next.js, Styled-components, and GraphQL in production environments
- • Track record of shipping high-quality, performant UIs at a high-growth startup or scale-up
- • Located in Austin, TX or willing to relocate—our culture thrives on in-person collaboration in our downtown office
- • Excellent problem-solving skills, pixel-perfect attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex design systems into accessible code
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary plus generous stock options that give you real ownership in a $100M-valued company backed by Tiger Global and MSD Capital
- • Comprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
- • Annual hotel and travel stipend so you can experience the very same luxury adventures our platform powers
- • Modern downtown Austin office with top-tier equipment, fully stocked kitchen, and a team that loves to celebrate wins together
