Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the visual storytelling for Blue Star Families (BSF), a national nonprofit that empowers military families through community-centered programming. As our Senior Graphic Design Contractor you will translate mission-critical messages into eye-catching, on-brand collateral that resonates with service members, spouses, veterans, and civilian allies across all 50 states.
- • Own the end-to-end creative process for a 6–8-week sprint: intake briefs from the VP of Communications, brainstorm concepts, iterate rapidly, and deliver polished, print-ready and digital-ready assets that amplify BSF’s impact during peak program season.
- • Ensure absolute brand consistency by rigorously applying BSF color palettes, typography, iconography, and voice guidelines to every touchpoint—from social graphics and one-pagers to large-format event signage and chapter toolkits.
- • Build editable Canva templates that empower 30+ local chapters to customize flyers, social posts, and invitations without compromising visual integrity; include locked brand elements and clear instructions so even non-designers can produce professional materials.
- • Turn complex data and research findings into compelling infographics and report layouts that policymakers, funders, and community partners can absorb at a glance, driving both awareness and donations.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with program managers, marketing associates, and external vendors to synchronize campaign launches, ensuring every asset is sized correctly for web, email, print, and paid media specs.
- • Respond to all design requests within 24 hours, proactively communicating blockers and proposing creative alternatives that keep projects on schedule and under budget.
- • Package final files meticulously: layered source files, outlined fonts, high-res exports, RGB/CMYK versions, and accessible alt-text so future designers and chapters can repurpose assets effortlessly.
- • Contribute to a living brand style guide by documenting new patterns, icon sets, and usage rules discovered during the engagement, leaving BSF with a stronger, more scalable visual system.
- • Infuse empathy and authenticity into every design, honoring the lived experiences of military families while maintaining an optimistic, forward-looking tone that invites community participation and support.
