• • As a Senior Investment Accountant at CSAA Insurance Group, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and compliant accounting and reporting for a complex and diversified investment portfolio. This position is crucial for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, which is a leading personal lines property and casualty insurance group in the United States, dedicated to helping AAA members navigate life's uncertainties.
• • You will be responsible for the daily oversight of outsourced investment accounting services, acting as the primary point of contact to ensure adherence to service level agreements, accuracy, and timeliness in all deliverables. This includes meticulously reviewing and validating a wide range of financial outputs such as journal entries, account reconciliations, investment valuations, and performance reports.
• • A core aspect of your role will involve monitoring and ensuring strict compliance with both company-specific accounting policies and external regulatory requirements, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). Your expertise will be vital in analyzing intricate investment transactions, such as public and private fixed income, global equities, private funds, and non-USD currency exposures, and determining the correct accounting treatment.
• • You will be instrumental in evaluating and implementing new accounting guidance, ensuring that the company's financial practices remain current and compliant with evolving standards. This proactive approach is essential for maintaining robust internal controls and supporting accurate financial reporting.
• • Adherence to Model Audit Rule (MAR) controls will be a key responsibility, ensuring that all processes and documentation meet the highest standards of internal control and audit readiness. You will also play a significant role in the month-end and quarter-end close processes, coordinating efforts to ensure timely and accurate financial close.
• • Furthermore, you will oversee the preparation and submission of critical statutory filings, including NAIC Schedules D, DA, and BA, as well as related disclosures. Your expertise will be called upon to serve as a key contact for external auditors, facilitating smooth and efficient audit processes.
• • Beyond technical accounting responsibilities, you will contribute to team development by mentoring junior staff members, sharing your knowledge, and guiding their professional growth. You will also be a driving force for process improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control within the investment accounting function.
