- • Own the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of Verkada’s flagship iOS application that serves as the primary interface for thousands of enterprise security professionals worldwide. You will design elegant, performant Swift/SwiftUI code that scales to millions of real-time video streams and IoT device interactions.
- • Lead the full product lifecycle—from ideation and technical design through App Store release and post-launch optimization—while collaborating with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and hardware teams to deliver features that redefine physical security.
- • Champion best-in-class mobile practices: modularization, dependency injection, unit/UI testing, CI/CD, and automated release pipelines. You will set the technical bar for the team and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and architecture guilds.
- • Build pixel-perfect, accessible UIs that surface complex camera analytics, access-control events, and environmental sensor data in intuitive dashboards. Your work directly impacts how quickly security teams can detect and respond to incidents.
- • Optimize network, memory, and battery usage in a data-intensive environment where users expect sub-second latency for 4K video playback and live PTZ controls across hundreds of simultaneous feeds.
- • Integrate deeply with Apple’s latest frameworks—Combine, Core Data, Metal, ARKit, and HealthKit—to unlock new product experiences such as augmented-reality floor-plan overlays and biometric access workflows.
- • Instrument and analyze telemetry to drive data-backed decisions on feature prioritization, crash reduction, and user-experience enhancements. You will own key metrics like app-store rating, session duration, and daily active users.
- • Collaborate with the security and compliance teams to implement end-to-end encryption, certificate pinning, and zero-trust authentication flows that exceed SOC 2 and ISO 27001 standards.
- • Contribute to the open-source community by releasing reusable components and libraries, raising Verkada’s profile as a thought leader in mobile engineering.
- • Participate in an on-call rotation that emphasizes blameless post-mortems and rapid incident resolution, ensuring 99.9% uptime for mission-critical security operations.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years shipping production iOS applications in Swift, with at least one app in the App Store that has 100k+ downloads or 4.5+ star rating
- • Expert-level knowledge of Swift concurrency, Combine, and SwiftUI; deep understanding of UIKit and Objective-C interoperability
- • Proven experience architecting large-scale, modular codebases using MVVM, Coordinators, or similar patterns, with comprehensive unit and snapshot testing
- • Strong grasp of networking, security, and performance optimization—HTTP/2, gRPC, TLS, certificate pinning, and Instruments profiling
- • Nice-to-have: contributions to open-source Swift packages, experience with C++ or Rust for cross-platform SDKs, or prior work on video streaming or IoT applications
