As a senior member of our organization, you will be instrumental in leading network buildouts, conducting advanced network analysis, and providing expert support for complex customer issues. Your contributions will be central to our core mission of delivering "Cybersecurity by Design," ensuring that our clients' infrastructures are not only secure and efficient but also precisely tailored to meet their unique operational requirements.
• • This is a full-time, hybrid position offering significant remote work flexibility. While the role is primarily remote, occasional travel within the Bay Area and throughout the United States will be required to support client projects and deployments. This blend of remote autonomy and on-site engagement ensures a dynamic and engaging work experience.
• • In this specific capacity, you will be supporting the critical Waymo account. Your daily responsibilities will demand a delicate balance between high-stakes technical precision and strategic leadership. You will seamlessly transition between remote performance tuning of sophisticated network systems and hands-on, on-site infrastructure deployments at autonomous vehicle depots. This involves leading the architecture and physical "rack and stack" installations for robust Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless LAN (WLAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) environments.
• • A key focus will be ensuring the ultra-low latency required for seamless fleet communications, while simultaneously engaging in proactive threat hunting across Palo Alto Networks and Ruckus network stacks. Your role extends beyond technical execution; you will also be responsible for mentoring junior technicians on complex troubleshooting methodologies and acting as a trusted advisor in high-level stakeholder meetings. Your unwavering focus will be on maintaining an impenetrable, high-availability network infrastructure that is essential for keeping Waymo’s groundbreaking technology operational and safe.
• • Key responsibilities include: Participating in the comprehensive design, meticulous planning, and successful implementation of network infrastructure projects, encompassing LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center networks. This involves configuring, installing, and diligently maintaining a wide array of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
• • You will be tasked with continuously monitoring network performance, proactively identifying potential bottlenecks, and implementing effective solutions to optimize network efficiency, reliability, and overall availability. As a project lead or key stakeholder, you will execute physical rack and stack installations for network deployments, ensuring timely and detailed status reports are delivered to all relevant stakeholders.
• • A critical aspect of this role involves implementing and managing robust network security solutions. This includes deploying and configuring firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, endpoint protection solutions, vulnerability management platforms, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) systems to comprehensively safeguard client networks.
• • You will lead the resolution of the most complex technical issues, including intricate network problems, critical security incidents, and challenging client requests, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving capabilities. Furthermore, you will coordinate and lead incident response efforts for critical security events, collaborating closely with both clients and internal teams to ensure swift and effective mitigation.
• • Proactive threat hunting and thorough vulnerability assessments will be integral to your role, enabling the identification of potential risks before they can impact client operations. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic recommendations and maintaining a high level of availability to address any and all requests, fostering strong client relationships.
• • Comprehensive documentation and reporting are essential, including the production of detailed reports on security incidents, threat analyses, and actionable recommendations for both clients and internal stakeholders. You will also mentor and guide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians, fostering their professional growth and promoting knowledge sharing within the team. Finally, you will lead initiatives aimed at continuously enhancing our security processes, tools, and methodologies, driving innovation and improvement across the organization.
