- • Lead the real-time distribution of 20,000+ daily safety incidents to millions of users, ensuring critical public safety information is delivered quickly, accurately, and responsibly at scale—this role is vital to Citizen’s mission of keeping communities informed and safe during emergencies.
- • Oversee the 24/7 analyst team that processes police and fire radio communications to generate real-time Citizen incidents, managing the end-to-end workflow from data ingestion to push notification delivery for 29M+ daily notifications.
- • Define and enforce editorial standards for incident communication, ensuring tone, accuracy, and contextual appropriateness across all notifications, especially during high-impact or sensitive events requiring nuanced judgment.
- • Drive innovation by partnering with Product and Data Science teams to evolve manual incident prioritization workflows toward AI-assisted systems, balancing automation with strong editorial oversight to improve relevance and timeliness of alerts.
- • Lead, mentor, and develop a Mission Control team of 2–3 specialists, fostering a culture of speed, accountability, and sound judgment in high-pressure, real-time safety communications.
- • Make real-time decisions during rapidly evolving incidents, escalating critical situations as needed and ensuring seamless coordination across teams to maintain operational integrity and public trust.
- • Use data and analytics to measure incident engagement, identify communication patterns, and optimize notification strategies that enhance user safety and awareness.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to refine incident surfacing algorithms and improve how safety information is prioritized and delivered to users.
- • Establish and maintain operational excellence through goal-setting, performance tracking, and continuous improvement of Mission Control processes in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
- • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and in incident communication practices, ensuring safety alerts are equitable, unbiased, and reflective of the communities served.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8-10+ years of experience managing a large 24/7 operations center, newsroom, or high-intensity operational environment where split-second decisions impact public safety.
- • Proven leadership experience with a track record of building trust, influencing stakeholders, and driving results in fast-paced, mission-critical settings.
- • Strong operational and analytical background, including experience setting goals, measuring outcomes, and motivating teams to deliver under pressure.
- • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound editorial judgment in high-stakes situations, balancing speed with accuracy and sensitivity.
- • Experience collaborating with product or data teams on automation, AI, or workflow optimization initiatives.
- • Eligibility to obtain and maintain CJIS clearance, as continued employment is contingent upon meeting this requirement.
