- • Oversee operational activities across a multi-site supply chain network in the South UK, ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, quality, and regulatory standards to mitigate risk and maintain operational integrity.
- • Lead and mentor three Plant Managers and approximately 600 colleagues, fostering a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across all sites.
- • Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring consistent delivery of service and quality benchmarks, aligning plant performance with customer expectations and contractual obligations.
- • Analyze regional cost trends and implement targeted cost-saving initiatives to optimize financial performance and ensure alignment with budget targets and profitability goals.
- • Spearhead transformation projects and change management programs across the supply chain network, improving efficiency, reducing waste, and modernizing workflows in high-volume manufacturing and logistics environments.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Engineering, HR, and Supply Chain UK/EU to execute regional strategy and ensure operational consistency and alignment with organizational objectives.
- • Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to safety, cost, product quality, customer satisfaction, and sustainability, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making and prioritization.
- • Develop and execute strategies to enhance operational resilience, reduce downtime, and improve asset utilization across the region’s plants in Birmingham, Severnside, and South Ockendon.
- • Engage effectively with unionized workforces, maintaining positive labor relations and ensuring smooth operational execution within collective bargaining frameworks.
- • Demonstrate financial and commercial acumen through budget ownership, P&L understanding, and proactive cost optimization, contributing to the regional and broader UKI supply chain financial performance.
- • Promote a Zero Harm safety culture through leadership presence, coaching, and enforcement of safety protocols, reducing incident rates and enhancing workforce well-being.
- • Apply Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to identify inefficiencies, eliminate non-value-added activities, and embed sustainable process enhancements.
- • Balance strategic planning with hands-on execution, making autonomous decisions under ambiguity while maintaining alignment with company-wide goals and timelines.
- • Influence senior stakeholders across matrixed organizations to secure buy-in, resources, and support for large-scale operational initiatives and transformational programs.
- • Act as a key contributor to the development and evolution of CHEP’s regional and European supply chain strategy, shaping how goods are transported, managed, and reused sustainably.
- • Provide coaching and mentorship to plant management teams, supporting their professional growth and preparing them for future leadership roles within the organization.
- • Utilize disruptive thinking and inclusive leadership to inspire high performance across diverse teams, encouraging innovation, feedback, and psychological safety.
- • Travel regularly to key operational sites including Birmingham, Severnside, and South Ockendon to conduct site visits, audits, performance reviews, and team engagement activities.
- • Leverage flexible working arrangements under CHEP’s Hybrid Work Model to manage regional responsibilities while maintaining work-life balance.
