đź“‹ Description

  • • Crusoe Energy Systems is at the forefront of the AI revolution, pioneering sustainable technology to power a world where ambitious AI creation is not only possible but also scalable, fast, and environmentally responsible. We are building the foundational infrastructure that enables this future, and as a Senior Network Planner, you will be instrumental in shaping the very backbone of our global operations.
  • • This pivotal role sits within our dynamic Network Engineering team, where you will be tasked with the strategic design and meticulous planning of our global edge, backbone, and data center fiber network. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting High-Performance Compute (HPC) clusters, particularly those leveraging GPUs, ensuring they have the robust and reliable network connectivity they require.
  • • We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual who is not only passionate about network infrastructure but also deeply committed to sustainable and energy-efficient solutions. Your ability to analyze complex data, communicate effectively, and collaborate seamlessly within a team will be key to your success in this role.
  • • As a Network Infrastructure Planner, your responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle of our network development. You will be the architect behind the planning and evolution of Crusoe Cloud’s network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on physical network design. This includes deep dives into dark fiber, colocation strategies, ISP cabling, and the intricacies of optical transport technologies.
  • • You will apply a thorough understanding of backbone network engineering design principles, coupled with a keen awareness of the network infrastructure provider market within your operational regions. This role demands extensive collaboration across multiple departments, driving forward strategic planning initiatives, and architecting high-availability solutions that can scale to meet future demands.
  • • A core aspect of your contribution will be delivering precise and comprehensive documentation that underpins our network strategy and deployment. You will actively drive the development of backbone infrastructure solutions for Crusoe Cloud, working hand-in-hand with various internal teams to ensure we consistently meet and exceed our customers’ evolving demands for compute power and connectivity.
  • • **Capacity Forecasting:** You will be responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated demand models. These models will be essential for accurately predicting future network capacity requirements across our diverse network footprint, encompassing backbone, data center, and edge locations. This proactive approach ensures we are always ahead of demand.
  • • **Strategic Roadmap Development:** You will collaborate closely with the Network Engineering team to translate high-level architectural designs into actionable, multi-year deployment plans. This involves breaking down complex strategies into tangible steps for implementation.
  • • **Fiber Feasibility Analysis for New Sites:** A critical part of our expansion involves identifying and evaluating new data center sites. You will conduct thorough assessments of network viability, focusing on critical factors such as fiber path diversity, latency profiles, and potential interconnection opportunities to ensure optimal network integration.
  • • **Circuit Management Lifecycle:** You will oversee the complete lifecycle of both terrestrial and subsea lit services and dark fiber circuits. This includes managing the process from initial Request for Proposal (RFP) stages, through the intricate process of circuit grooming, to the eventual decommissioning of services, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • • **Network Optimization:** You will continuously seek opportunities to enhance both the performance and cost-efficiency of our network. This involves in-depth analysis of traffic patterns, peering arrangements, and transit costs to identify areas for optimization.
  • • **Technology Roadmap Integration:** Staying abreast of the latest advancements in IP and optical networking technologies is paramount. You will track emerging trends and capabilities, incorporating them strategically into our long-term network planning to ensure Crusoe remains at the cutting edge.
  • • **Scenario Modeling and Strategic Insight:** You will develop and utilize models to simulate various 'what-if' scenarios. This includes analyzing both greenfield (new) and brownfield (existing) demand and supply situations, providing crucial data-driven insights to inform our strategic decision-making.
  • • **Fiber Topology Evolution:** You will play a key role in overseeing the evolution of our backbone fiber topology. This ensures that our network architecture consistently meets stringent resiliency requirements and minimizes latency, crucial for HPC workloads.
  • • **Fiber Acquisition Strategy Support:** Working in close partnership with engineering, finance, and sourcing teams, you will provide critical analytical support for our backbone fiber acquisition strategies, ensuring we secure the most advantageous fiber assets.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 15+ years of experience in network planning within high-capacity, mission-critical environments, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • • Proven experience in designing IP, optical, or fiber networks, with a comprehensive understanding of current and emerging technologies.
  • • Strong foundational knowledge of network topology principles and resilient network design methodologies.
  • • Demonstrated experience utilizing network modeling tools such as NPS, One Planner, OPNET, Cariden, WAE, Aria, WANDL, or similar platforms.
  • • Experience with optical link design, wavelength assignment, coherent modulation schemes, and a solid grasp of IP routing protocols.
  • • Experience in modeling and analyzing business cases for significant network expansion projects or strategic fiber acquisitions.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Industry-competitive salary and bonus structure.
  • • Opportunity to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) in a rapidly growing, well-funded technology company.
  • • Comprehensive health insurance package options, including High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans, along with vision and dental coverage for you and your dependents.
  • • Generous employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) to support your healthcare expenses.
  • • Paid Parental Leave to support new parents during this significant life event.
  • • Employer-paid life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage for your peace of mind.
  • • Access to Teladoc for convenient virtual healthcare services.
