Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • tem is revolutionizing the global energy market by building AI-native transaction infrastructure, aiming to create a more transparent, fair, and efficient system for electricity procurement and sales. We are fundamentally re-architecting how energy is bought, sold, and priced, moving away from legacy systems that favour intermediaries and opaque pricing towards a future driven by AI and modern software.
  • As a Senior Operations Automation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating this transformation by designing, building, and deploying intelligent automation solutions across our core operational engines. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of AI in energy, directly impacting the scalability and efficiency of our rapidly growing business.
  • You will partner closely with 'Engine Owners' – the domain experts responsible for critical operational areas such as Payments & Debt, or Tendering & Partner Activation. Your primary objective will be to identify repetitive, manual workflows within these engines and transform them into robust, automated systems.
  • This role requires a flexible and adaptable mindset, as you will be expected to shift priorities based on where automation can deliver the most significant operational impact. You will be instrumental in building the foundational automation infrastructure that empowers our Operations team, enabling them to focus on high-value, complex tasks that require human judgment and strategic thinking.
  • As you gain deep expertise in specific operational engines, there is a clear and exciting career path towards evolving into a combined Conductor/Workflow Engineer role. This advanced position involves owning both the strategic direction and the technical execution of an operational engine, offering significant growth and leadership opportunities.
  • Your responsibilities will encompass the end-to-end delivery of automation projects. This includes understanding complex business logic, translating manual processes into automated workflows, and integrating various internal platforms with third-party services using APIs, webhooks, and workflow automation tools. You will be building the 'Reasoning Layer' for our Engines, creating systems that don't just move data but actively 'think' and route tasks based on intricate business rules.
  • A key aspect of this role is enabling our AI agents. You will be responsible for codifying business rules, constructing sophisticated reasoning layers, and establishing critical data quality gates. These measures are essential for allowing AI agents to safely handle increasing volumes of work. You will define the 'Safety Valves' – the crucial checkpoints that determine when a process needs to be escalated to human intervention, ensuring both efficiency and operational integrity.
  • You will act as a product manager for internal efficiency, taking ownership of problems from initial discovery through to production deployment, ongoing monitoring, and iterative improvements. Success will be measured by tangible outcomes, specifically the number of manual hours your automated systems eliminate each week, demonstrating a direct impact on operational leverage and cost savings.
  • Furthermore, you will foster a culture of automation and upskilling within the Operations team. This involves creating symbiotic learning opportunities by coaching operations team members, helping them develop workflow engineering skills that complement their existing domain expertise. This collaborative approach ensures that automation becomes a shared capability across the organization.
  • The ideal candidate possesses a 'Builder Mindset' with a proven track record in automation roles, ideally with 2-4 years of experience. A portfolio showcasing 'Hours Reclaimed' – concrete examples of how your automation efforts have replaced manual labour – is highly valued. You should be comfortable navigating the 'Messy Middle' of system integration, adept at connecting disparate systems that were not originally designed to communicate with each other.
  • You will leverage a strong technical toolkit, including deep experience with low-code automation platforms (such as n8n) and a solid understanding of how to incorporate AI/LLMs into logic flows. A systems-thinking approach is crucial; you should be able to perceive systemic flaws beyond individual tickets and map complex human processes into clean, logical architectures.
  • We prioritize speed and impact, valuing the ability to ship a 'good' automation today over a 'perfect' one next month. Experience in high-growth startups or operations-heavy environments like fintech, energy, logistics, or e-commerce is considered a significant advantage, as is prior exposure to building or integrating AI/LLM workflows or a background in data engineering or business intelligence.
  • This role is an exceptional opportunity to join a rapidly scaling, well-funded company that is fundamentally changing a critical global industry. You will be empowered to drive significant operational improvements through intelligent automation, contributing directly to our mission of making energy transactions transparent and fair.

🎯 Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in automation roles with a demonstrable portfolio of 'Hours Reclaimed' (specific examples of code replacing manual labour).
  • Proven experience connecting disparate systems using APIs and webhooks, comfortable with integrating systems not designed to communicate.
  • Deep experience with low-code automation platforms (e.g., n8n) and understanding of how to integrate AI/LLMs into logic flows.
  • Strong systems thinking ability to map complex human processes into logical, automated architectures.
  • Experience in high-growth startups or operations-heavy environments (fintech, energy, logistics, e-commerce) is a plus.
  • Exposure to building or integrating AI/LLM workflows is desirable.

🏖️ Benefits

  • Competitive salary, reviewed twice a year using real-time market data, with transparent pay for the same role and level.
  • Stock options, providing team members with ownership in the company's mission.
  • 25 days of holiday plus public holidays, with the flexibility to swap public holidays and an extra day off for your birthday.
  • Fully remote working with clear core hours and no internal meetings on Friday afternoons.
  • Annual home working and wellbeing budgets: up to £1,200 / €1,200 for remote setup upgrades and up to £150 / €150 monthly for wellbeing support (therapy, gym, meditation apps, etc.).
