- • The Senior Payroll Associate at Deel plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for a globally distributed workforce, directly supporting the company’s mission to unlock global opportunity by guaranteeing workers are paid correctly and protected under local laws across 150+ countries.
- • This role combines technical payroll expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing end-to-end payroll operations while mentoring junior team members and driving process improvements that enhance scalability and compliance in a high-growth SaaS environment.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing the processing of payroll data for employees across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring all calculations align with local tax laws, statutory requirements, and company policies.
- • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records in Deel’s HRIS and payroll systems, including personal details, contract changes, benefits enrollments, and termination data, to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
- • Verifying and reconciling employee data such as salaries, hours worked, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and tax withholdings, identifying discrepancies and resolving them promptly to prevent payment errors or compliance risks.
- • Assisting with payroll tax calculations, filings, and remittances in coordination with local experts or external providers, ensuring timely submission of statutory reports and payments to tax authorities.
- • Providing first-line support to employees for payroll-related inquiries, including payslip explanations, tax document requests, and adjustment processes, delivering clear, empathetic, and timely communication.
- • Ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving payroll laws and regulations across Deel’s operational countries, monitoring legislative changes and updating internal processes accordingly.
- • Leading the implementation of new payroll processes, system enhancements, or integrations, collaborating with product, engineering, and compliance teams to test, validate, and roll out improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution
- • 3-5 years of direct experience in payroll processing, payroll administration, or a closely related HR/finance role
- • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including tax withholdings, statutory deductions, and reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to explain complex payroll concepts clearly to employees and stakeholders
- • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support junior team members in a collaborative, remote-first environment
