  • • The Senior Payroll Associate for South Korea Payroll is a critical individual contributor role responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for employees in South Korea, directly supporting Deel’s mission to unlock global opportunity by enabling seamless, lawful compensation across borders.
  • • This role safeguards the financial integrity and trust of Deel’s global workforce by managing end-to-end payroll operations in one of Asia’s most regulated markets, where precision in tax, deductions, and statutory compliance is non-negotiable.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing the end-to-end processing of payroll data for South Korean employees, ensuring all salary components, bonuses, overtime, and deductions are correctly calculated and posted in accordance with local regulations.
  • • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records in Deel’s HRIS and payroll systems, including new hires, terminations, status changes, and benefit enrollments, with zero tolerance for data discrepancies.
  • • Verifying and reconciling employee data such as hours worked, leave balances, tax declarations, and statutory deductions (including National Pension, Health Insurance, Employment Insurance, and Industrial Accident Compensation) against source documents and system outputs.
  • • Assisting with the preparation, calculation, and filing of South Korea payroll taxes and mandatory contributions, coordinating with internal tax specialists and external advisors to ensure timely submissions to National Tax Service and other relevant authorities.
  • • Providing first-line support to employees for payroll-related inquiries, including payslip explanations, tax year-end adjustments, bonus calculations, and resolution of payment discrepancies via email, chat, or ticketing systems.
  • • Ensuring ongoing compliance with South Korea’s Labor Standards Act, Income Tax Act, Social Security Regulations, and other relevant legislation, proactively monitoring regulatory changes and updating processes accordingly.
  • • Leading the design, testing, and implementation of new payroll processes, system enhancements, or automation initiatives within Deel’s payroll platform, collaborating with product, engineering, and compliance teams to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • • Mentoring and guiding junior payroll associates or regional team members, sharing best practices, conducting knowledge transfer sessions, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
  • • Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) on South Korea payroll during internal audits, external inspections, and cross-functional projects, providing documentation and evidence of compliance as required.
