- • The Senior Payroll Manager at National University System leads payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing for over 4,500 employees across remote and campus locations, directly supporting organizational stability and employee trust through meticulous payroll administration and regulatory adherence.
- • This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity and employee satisfaction by overseeing end-to-end payroll cycles, resolving complex issues, and partnering with HR and Finance to uphold compliance with federal, state, local, and international wage and tax laws.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and mentoring a team of payroll professionals, managing weekly, biweekly, and monthly payroll processing, administering enterprise systems like Workday and ADP, auditing payroll batches for general ledger accuracy, and ensuring timely production and distribution of W-2s and year-end tax documents.
- • The Senior Payroll Manager researches and resolves escalated payroll discrepancies, conducts monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reconciliations, supports workers’ compensation and third-party audits, and analyzes budget variances to drive process improvements.
- • Collaboration with cross-functional leadership is essential to align payroll operations with business strategies, foster inclusive team dynamics, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- • The role emphasizes accountability, discretion with sensitive information, and proactive problem-solving, requiring the ability to prioritize time-critical tasks while maintaining high standards of service and confidentiality.
- • The individual will lead hiring, training, and development of payroll staff, mentor team members, and cultivate a cooperative, inclusive culture that values honesty, respect, and continuous improvement.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required.
- • Eight (8) or more years of relevant payroll professional experience in a high-volume environment.
- • Eight (8) or more years of experience leading or supervising a team.
- • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
- • Superior knowledge of payroll processing and accounting principles, with advanced understanding of federal, state, local, and international payroll regulations and tax laws.
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and payroll systems including Workday, ADP, and OSV.
