- • Serve as a Senior PHP Engineer on the US Loans team, building and enhancing fintech systems that deliver credit products to customers in minutes instead of days.
- • Own end-to-end development of critical backend services using PHP 8.0+, including API design, integration, and optimization of lending platforms.
- • Collaborate within small, high-performing engineering teams to solve complex problems and implement solutions that surpass industry standards.
- • Design and implement domain-driven architectures with message-driven systems and event sourcing to support scalable, resilient financial applications.
- • Write and maintain comprehensive automated tests including unit, integration, functional, and Behat tests to ensure system reliability and quality.
- • Work within a modern tech stack featuring Symfony 7, AWS, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, and Kubernetes to deliver high-performance backend services.
- • Participate in CI/CD pipelines powered by GitHub Actions and ArgoCD, deploying to production immediately upon feature completion.
- • Engage in deep architectural discussions to shape the future of Lendable’s lending infrastructure across the US and UK markets.
- • Contribute to the evolution of internal systems by leveraging new data sources, machine learning, and AI to automate financial decisioning.
- • Take full ownership of technical decisions with direct impact on product direction, customer experience, and company growth.
- • Work in a collaborative environment that values autonomy, resourcefulness, and continuous learning.
- • Support the scaling of one of the UK’s fastest-growing fintech unicorns with over 200 engineers across backend, frontend, mobile, and platform teams.
- • Integrate with financial systems and APIs to enable seamless loan origination, underwriting, and disbursement processes.
- • Maintain high standards of code quality, system observability, and operational excellence in a regulated financial technology environment.
- • Contribute to team culture through technical mentorship, code reviews, and knowledge sharing with peers across global engineering teams.
- • Participate in an efficient interview process including a take-home coding exercise and technical and culture-add interviews.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of professional experience with PHP
- • Strong, business-oriented product engineering experience with modern PHP (PHP 8.0+ required)
- • Proficiency with a modern PHP framework such as Symfony or Laravel
- • Demonstrated expertise in automated testing (unit, integration, functional, Behat)
- • High degree of ownership and autonomy in delivering technical solutions
- • Experience with Domain Driven Design, Message-Driven Systems, or Event Sourcing (preferred)
