Senior Platform Engineer

📋 Description

• • Own and improve the platform foundation enabling a high-velocity engineering team to ship safely across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, secrets management, networking, access controls, CI/CD, observability, and production guardrails.
• • Build internal tooling for an AI-enabled engineering workflow, including automation, repository and CI feedback loops, agent-ready development environments, and safeguards that maintain production discipline while accelerating developer velocity.
• • Strengthen operational readiness by enhancing logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, runbooks, and incident follow-up procedures to ensure systems are observable and recoverable during high-pressure cyber incidents.
• • Harden production access through least-privilege IAM policies, secure secret management, auditability controls, and controlled break-glass paths that balance security with operational necessity.
• • Set pragmatic platform standards that allow a small engineering team to move quickly today while preventing infrastructure, reliability, and security debt as the organization scales.
• • Design and implement safe release processes with deployment gates, smoke tests, rollback paths, and clear ownership models to ensure predictable and reliable deployments.
• • Support relational databases and production data changes with care for consistency, backup integrity, and minimal downtime during schema or data migrations.
• • Apply a security-minded approach to infrastructure design, emphasizing least privilege, audit trails, secret rotation, zero-trust access patterns, and controlled production access.
• • Document operational procedures clearly through runbooks, deployment notes, incident post-mortems, and engineering decision records to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.
• • Enable engineers to release with confidence by reducing friction in the path from code to production while maintaining strict security and reliability controls.
• • Improve visibility into critical systems for response teams by enhancing observability tooling, Kubernetes cluster monitoring, cloud integrations, and alerting thresholds tied to business-critical workflows.
• • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align platform capabilities with the needs of AI-driven response and recovery systems used by enterprise customers during cyber incidents.
• • Evaluate and integrate technologies that improve developer experience, including Docker, local Kubernetes, kubectl, task runners, local service scripts, and frontend build/deploy workflows.
• • Maintain and evolve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar systems, ensuring protected environments, federated identity, deploy gates, image pipelines, and smoke-test automation are robust and scalable.
• • Work with cloud infrastructure on AWS or comparable platforms, managing managed Kubernetes clusters, container registries, private networking, and secure cluster access controls.
• • Contribute to the design and operation of API services, worker services, durable workflow/orchestration systems, event streaming, and relational databases that underpin the platform’s reliability.
• • Balance automation with manual controls based on blast radius analysis, knowing when to enforce guardrails and when to preserve flexibility for high-stakes operational scenarios.
• • Drive platform improvements that directly impact customer trust during time-sensitive cyber incident response, ensuring systems are secure, dependable, understandable, and ready under pressure.
